Hello, I'm looking to improve my Nytro for top speed on the lake. When I look at other engines like the Vector, VK Pro, SR Viper, and Sidewinder to find a better camshaft, Yamaha makes five camshaft models for the 1050 and 998 three-cylinder engines. These are the 8GL for the Nytro, the 8JU for the Sidewinder, Viper, and Vector, the 8ES for the Vector and VK Pro, the 8HF for the Vector and Venture, and the 8KH for the SR Viper. I've noticed that the turbo engine uses the same camshafts as the Vector in some years. I'd like to know if anyone has measured the durations of each camshaft model? Also, there's the 2HC from the YXZ 1000, the 1RC from the MT-09, and the B7N from the YZF-R9, but I don't know if they're compatible with the engine. Perhaps someone here knows. If anyone here has had the chance to measure the durations of all these cameras and would like to share them, I would appreciate this data in order to find the best combination to improve the Nytro for top speed and HP. Thank you.

Whenever Yamaha introduces a new engine they provide all the cam details in their technical update books for that year.
However, I don't have any except the 2006.

Nytro & Viper are the same, there is no difference (2016 versions do have a new part # due to the cam journal caps being different). Sidewinder, Vector, Venture are the same.
FX Nytro/Viper 2008-2015 (and early build 2016)
Measured at 0.050"
Intake Duration 240 lift 0.372"
Exhaust Duration 232 lift 0.353"
Any 2016 or newer camshaft will not fit into the FX Nytro/SR Viper 2008-2015 cylinder head.
The Sidewinder/Vector/Venture cams all have less duration and lift.

Ok the Nytro and Viper have 8GL cam and the last version of Viper it's 8KH cam. The 2016 and up head will fit on Nytro and Viper bloc from 2008 to 2015?
The Vector run 3 different cam. The 8ES, 8HF and 8JU and all 3 have the same duration and it's less ° to the Nytro? It's right?

Okay, do you know if there are cameras with more lift or longer durations? Or a company that can modify them to increase that?Nytro & Viper are the same, there is no difference (2016 versions do have a new part # due to the cam journal caps being different). Sidewinder, Vector, Venture are the same.

I don't remember the 2005-2009 Vector cam information.
2010-2018 cam information is
Intake 224 duration
Exhaust 224 duration
Web camshafts at one time had a camshaft regrind available for the FX Nytros, not sure if they still offer it.
