"Game Changer!"

We have been paying equivalent to $30000USD since 2003 here in Norway. I'm not rich by any means LOL.

Ok , but your wages must reflect that price or you couldn't afford the sled and live here with toys so expensive.

I talked to the dealer where I bought my sled and he's talking and trying to entice me on a new one.... then I ask him how much you gonna give me for mine in trade. What do you think he offered me? I paid just over $17000.00 after taxes with a 3 year warranty, 2700 miles on it, mint not a scratch anywhere.
I told to him I wanted at least 1/2 ($10,000.00) of what the new sled will cost me for my 08 in trade. End of conversation. He has no problem asking for 20 grand for a new sled and then gives you a slap in the face ($8250.00) when/if you want a trade in. I'll be keeping mine for awhile. Too bad about the 30 g price tag rxrider, ouch...

No they don't, we have crazy pricing on all kind of recreational vehicles including cars for personal usage. I make $60.000USD a year before Tax and about $47.500USD after Tax, I don't think you are even close to pay 2/3 of your annual wage to buy a sled, I am thanks to our government :-(

That's why I have been getting into restoring vintage sleds, brings back memories when they didn't cost that much and didn't have alot of moving parts, plus you have the satisfaction of doing something from the ground up. Still love to ride my 07 Attak, but cruisin' on the ol'74' cat is priceless!! :flag:
Bottom line sleds are getting way to high in price (new) to get the younger and new crowd into snowmobiling!

I'll just keep doing what I have been doing, buying a sled that is a year or two old but still like new for 1/2 the price.. Im over the phase of having to own the newest thing on snow. Now I just want a reliable sled I can ride... Thats it...
I feel the same way.

I sold a turbo RX-1 to a guy in Norway. He paid me $8000 for the sled, plus $450 to deliver it to a shipper in New Jersey. Then he paid the shipping company to ship it to him. And then he told me he had to pay 25% tax on the entire purchase... I was shocked that anyone would pay that kinda money for a used sled but he said thats a good deal compared to their prices...

Thats just crazy. Are your houses or vehicles any cheaper?? How do you afford to have a house, car and a sled at that price??? Its just astronomical...

A car will cost me, say a Volvo XC60 AWD with 205HP TwinTurbo Diesel engine, like 2 years wages. A house is a lifetime commitment and a $400000USD to $600000USD for an anverage sized family home. On the other hand, health care is almost free, so is visiting the physician/doctor, medication is almost free as well, and we have a system on healthcare, when you have paid past $300USD we get a refund for what we have paid past the amount and a free card so we don't have to pay for the rest of the year.

All in all living in Norway is not bad at all, but we need more snow and more trails set up for us to be able to ride where we want to :)

my buddy and I discussed money this last week and how we got loans of $2000 to buy our first real sleds....of course they were used.
average price for our groups new sleds in 1996-97 (baby triples) was $6200 (otd) US funds.
I never would have thought prices would double+ in 10yrs.
looks like a new sled is out of the picture for quite a while.

Something to think about. Although I had to question whether I was looking at the right web site when I saw the price, it would be nice to purchase a sled without having to buy upgraded skis, hot grips, clutching, suspension calibration, etc... You get the point. If they have dialed these in closer to the point of just getting on and riding without having to stick so much more money into it to get it to where they should be it might be worth the extra up front. There are always accessories to buy but it sounds like they have addressed a lot of serious owner complaints with these new models. It's at least something to convince yourself if you decide to commit another $15000 for the next 4-5 years. Just a thought.

fireman.. that's a good point. After my rides on them all I would do is bigger carbides, studs and a clutch kit. For me it needed nothing else done to it. You can get a voucher for 4 year warranty or $700 in accessories also.
