I was just wondering what everyone does for summer storage with their gas. I siphoned mine out yesterday to make it lighter for removal to get at the spark plugs. I already had fuel stabilizer in it and was wondering if I should put it back in or leave the tank dry.
Any comments and or advice would be appreciated.

I drain mine and run the carbs dry . it's the safest way .

I have owned sleds an motorbikes for over 23 years and have never drained them after end of season. I have filled them completely up before storing them and I have never experienced any kind of problems doing it this way.

The way I have always done is similar to sniper's, and how I was always told, but in the last tank I add some ISO-HEET and STA-BIL... run it thru for a while then top the tank off to prevent any condensation. Has always worked for me.

Past experience with corrosion problems caused by leaving the fuel in the sled has made me a firm believer in draining the entire fuel system. The alcohols that are used in a number of brands of gasoline now days, along with adding fuel line deicers attracts moisture. This forms compounds which attack the aluminum used on the fuel pump and carburetor. Unless you are 100% sure your fuel contains no alcohol I would drain the ENTIRE system. In my owners manual, Yamaha says don't run the engine periodically over the summer since it does more harm than good. Why keep fuel in it if you're not going to run it ? Besides, the problem of condensation is usually only a problem during cold winter months.
