Gears rumor

Over on arcticchat and HCS they said Cat changed there chain case too and are putting the same gears and chain and manual adjuster
So the only thing that's different between the two are Air Box , exhaust , gearing and Ecu oh and the clutches ....
Correct....not sure where some of the folks on here get their information..lol

Haha its definately interesting listening to all the rumours and speculation for sure Nytro40th! hahaha

Every single "official" spec I have seen in print from both Yamaha and AC had little writing on the bottom that says "Subject to change" this is part of buying a spring sled and is what can make it exciting! They can still make changes even if it is done today. That leaves me with hope we will get Tuner skis,4 wheel rear axle,Black tunnel option and just 5 more hp than the AC! It could happen yet.

I'm hopeful for all the same but I'm pretty sure we'll be doing all of that ourselves. It's a nice thought though.

Where did you guys hear we were getting a different air box?

This what "you know what brand" is putting in there Yamaha 4stroke triple and I would suspect the same will be in the Viper
(note the 21/49 gear ratio)
the 7000 series (Yamaha)sleds will come with borgwarner chain, and gears. They will also get a manual adjuster, and extrovert drivers.

parts list (the X denotes that its new for this year):
Adjuster
2 2602-465 1 Plate, Ratchet
3 2623-057 X 1 Seal
4 2602-707 X 1 Spacer
5 0123-150 1 Nut
6 2602-735 X 1 Screw, Adjuster
7 2602-172 1 Seal
25 1702-342 X 1 Arm, Tensioner - Assembly
26 2602-336 1 Spring

Chain and gears
19 1702-351 X 1 Sprocket - 21T (13 Wide)
21 2602-758 X 1 Sprocket - 49T (13 Wide)
22 2602-760 X 1 Chain - 90P (13 Wide)
Just so you guys know, these numbers for the gears, chain and adjuster is from cats site, cat did not change the chaincase, just drilled a hole for the man. adjuster and they already have borgwarner gears and chain, just not hyvo, like i think yamaha will have.

I also have never read anything about airbox differences. Seems unlikely but who knows at this point.

If Yamaha changes the air box one can only hope they found some hidden ponies not being used in the AC design. :sled1:

There's a couple people that I talked to that told me it and two of them sell cats so they know what most of the mechanical differences are between the ZR7000 and Viper

Arctic Cat 7000's all have 21/49 Borg Warner gears.( (2.37 ratio) You have to put Borg Warner gears back in. 22/48 Borg Warner gears with stock chain seams to be what most are changing to. 2.03 ratio I believe.

Welcome to TY!:welc: This is a really old thread from 2013 when the partnership between AC and Yamaha was first announced. I don't pretend to know much about the stock gearing other than it's really low, but I can tell you that there are other more current threads that have covered this topic in depth.

Why would you think the exhausts are different? I know on my 2014 SE the muffler had Arctic Cat stamped right in it as passing EPA requirements. I would think the same rules would apply to the ECU. I can see the gears being difference as the clutch ratios may not be exactly the same, that would require different gearing to even get the same final drive.
