GPS mount on Viper

If you keep the backlight on full brightness and always on, most Garmins will deal with much lower temperatures.

Here is my setup. It is a Montana 650T with red pine trail maps installed. What I ended up doing was using a 1 into 3 dc plug to keep things simple and to be able to quick release everything instead of hardwiring it. It powers the GPS, helmet visor and ride lite safety light with no issues. I also bought the Montana DC mount and wired a plug onto it to be able to plug in to the 1-3 adaptor. Looks good and keeps everything clean. I used 1/4" lexan to mount it to the sled and used rubber expanding grommets to secure it to the plastics but also utilize the rubber mounting for harmonic reduction so it doesn't vibrate creating a blurry screen when trying to look at it when sled is running.

The Viper has a Marinco 12v locking receptacle for powering your 12 VDC accessories and when matched with a 12v locking plug it will prevent power disconnects from vibration typical with regular style rec/plugs. Notice the plug's ground clips are squared off which when lined up with the arrows on the receptacle provide the locking feature....to remove plug simple twist 1/4 turn and pull out. I put a Marinco locking plug on my GPS power cord and have never had a power interruption. I got my plug on eBay.

Nuvi 2595 is not one of them. Low battery warning in a hour, or less depending upon temperature. Then shut down.

Nuvi 50 on a handlebar ram mount. Just used some big fender washers on the underside for more support and ran a dedicated line from battery into google bag. Nice and easy to see at a glance sitting or standing.
