I agree the viper is a 600CC class sled most 600 are 125 plus HP and the Viper 130 plus HP. Last year my sled to 80 was faster but by the time it was to 90 they would start to pass me, one sled 6oo Polaris and the other a 600 ski-doo. The 600 rider are little guys I got 100 lbs. on them AND NO JOKES I NOW I AM FAT I haven't rode the sled yet after the clutching and I will be happy to run with the 600. When I really want to go fast I will ride my Apex with 12,000 miles what a sled.Yeah I'm coming off a Nytro xtx and I'd have to say I am disappointed in the performance of the Viper. I figured it would be at least a tad bit quicker/faster than the Nytro just for the simple fact it weighs less. IMO, it turns out that the Nytro is a true 700 class sled where the Viper is a 600 class sled. My bud has an 09 fx nitro rtx se so I have a direct comparison or baseline to compare. My wife has a 2010 Vector ltx and I am afraid to race her..lol. Although, I do absolutly love the Viper/Cat chassis and the bright spot is this Viper chassis outperforms the Nytro chassis in ergos, handling and in the bumps.

So far on its two first days out of the box, one moderately cold, and one above freezing, my new DX-LTX has been consistently hitting 84-85 in fairly short bursts of WOT. The first day, I think I got about 12 mpg, but haven't refilled after the second day to compute the mileage. I let my buddy ride it, and I rode his 2011 Vector LTX while he was on the Viper. I have to admit, I would not want to line up against his Vector yet! That having been said, and it may all be in my head, but it seems as though the Viper is getting stronger as the miles add up...at least I hope so. I put over 5K on my Vector, and loved it, but the riding position on the Vector seemed unnatural and uncomfortable after getting off the Viper! Overall, I really love this sled!!!!

I have also found that when I fill the sled with gas you have to burp the gas tank by pushing down on the back bumper. My gas mileage was all over the place could not figure out what was going on. Went to fill up one day and the kid at the gas station said do you want me to burp your sled. I didn't know what he was talking about he burped it and add 3 more QTS and I said holly @##$. Since then I get a consent 13 MPG if I am good I have seen 15 MPG. I have ran the tank low and put 9.8 gallons in and I think YAMAHA said we have 9.6 usable gallons and the tank was 10 plus gallons. The emptier the tank is the more air that is captured and will take more gas after the burp the least I have ever got after a burp was a 1/2 gallon.

this Viper drinks fuel like its water,, and is very very slow, i topped off at 75MPH,,, RPM's were at 8500
is these things that tight and get better? i have about 280 miles.
I have most parts for clutching on the cheap but man oh man what a start!! not loving it yet.
OH its a LTX thats actually rode nice.
Rather than start another clutch post here, let me know in PM what clutch parts you have and lets fix it. Viper with clutch set correctly will outrun a Nytro.

viper xtx has really good transfer and traction because of the 1.6 cobra and it will not out run nytro sting even with clutching top speed only 90 nytro at least 100 just saying i have both but my viper is ltx ive seen 98 gps stock with 1600 miles on clock

Two things to remember if you burp the tank
1) Put the cap back on first
2) Don't burp fill in the cold then take inside or it will likely expand and overflow

More than a few here did the clutch mod and then the Viper would outrun a Nytro, check here for info to get yours that fast also. http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/post-your-clutch-setup.132429/

Oh, then you are right. A Nytro will beat a stock Viper.

Not really. You just need to move the air from the back of the tank to the top where the fill is. It will do it with the cap on.TD you have to take the cap off so the air escapes.
