From the first time I rode my sled I didn't like the brake. I mentioned it in a couple posts here. I had the sled at my dealer for the no-start issue and mentioned the lousy brake to him. They found that the brake disk was siezed to the drive shaft. It appears to have been forced onto the shaft at the factory. (It's a splined shaft. I'm not sure how they could screw this up) The dealer couldn't get the disk off the shaft. They had to replace the shaft, disk, caliper and pads.

Good to see that the dealer tore into the issue well enough to find the problem and didn't just look at the symptom, replace brake shoes, and sweep you out the door!

The only problem is that he forgot to put any oil in the chain case. Fortunately I looked everything over prior to riding it.

The discs just sieze, they are a pain to remove your dealer was just kinda clueless. We have to swap them from Ice racing as they warp. They suck to get off the first time.

Don't forget teh drive shaft brake responds wait different than the jackshaft one. Way more pull involved, not to mention not a fan of the Hayes system. Took me a while to get used to the lack of braking power

This sled only has 1100 miles on it. Are you saying I'm going to need to replace the disk several times a year? My Nytro has 8000 miles on it. I've had the nytro brake so hot it fractured the brake pads. I've never replaced the disk and it has never seized to the shaft.yam177 said:The discs just sieze, they are a pain to remove your dealer was just kinda clueless. No we only warp them running hard on the ice races. We warped just as many Nytro Discs. Drill an extra hole or reverse the Brake disc guard to get extra cooling in it
