:o| I think you need a kill switch strobe that lights up when switch depressed. :o|

If one has been made i will put it on every machine i have that has a kill switch. It could go around the button and instead of just breaking the circuit, it would take the power and divert it from the starter and use it to run the l.e.d.s that are in the housing. All a kill switch does is take the battery power and divert it into a ground, why not just add a l.e.d. bar into the circuit. I freaking want one now.
;)!

That is somewhat true on some engines. In that case however it does not ground the battery power but rather it grounds the ignition coil output to the spark plug. This is a common kill switch functionality found primarily in smaller single cylinder engines. On our Apex sleds the kill switch actually does interupt the 12 Vdc power to most of the sled. That being said it would be easy to connect a relay that could activate a light that would be on whenever the key is on but the kill switch is pressed.

My thought however is that this would be a bit of overkill to find a solution to a problem that really shouldn't exist. I too have bumped the kill switch and then been concerned for a few seconds when I turned the key and the display was dead. It took me a few seconds to figure it out. I'll bet those guys that tore into their sleds only to figure out it was the kill switch will never make that mistake again. Maybe it is just me personally but whenever any engine with a kill switch won't start the kill switch is the first thing I check.

you have tors and a ignition switch
cut the button off or take it apart and disable it so it wont push down or
connect/ disconnect the wires to disable

Seriously? I can't imagine disabling my kill switch just so I no longer had to remember that it has to be in the up position before I can start my sled. When you turn the key to the on position and your dash is dead isn't the first thing you check is the kill switch?

kill switch

Everyone has had this happen one time or another. Think your onto something with a lighted switch or on dash indicator light. I'm in maintenance and we try to change all the stop switches on a our machines to lighted switches. Helps crews and maintenance. :o|

I remember people forggeting to turn the gas on and freaking out when it died . HA That was a long time ago .

I like the idea of the sheet metal screw.

you do not need to carry a sheet metal screw as Yamaha has provided one that works. the screw that holds the throttle cable in where the kill switch is, is the perfect sized screw for threading into a broken off kill switch to pull it up. discovered this on the side of the trail when I broke mine off rolling the sled coming out of a ditch.
