My phazer starts great cold or after sitting 30 minutes, but if you fill it up with gas or stop and talk 5 minutes, I have to crank and crank and crank and crank. It will fire and die, fire and die, fire and die, fire and die. :o| Any suggestions thanks, will

Are you touching the throttle when you start it? when mine is hot i need to either hold the throttle about 1/8 open or crank it until it fires like four times before letting off the starter.

I have 8400 miles on the sled and think it has gotten worse the last 1000 miles or my memory is getting bad.
lots of miles - just a few quick thoughts - plugs - might be good to put some seafoam through it - not sure of all the sensors - but that many miles you may have something with dirt, oil or carbon that is causing the condition - if it's starting good cold then you are getting full spark advance and lots of fuel upfront - if it's hot then the spark is retarded and the fuel is metered back - if it was mine i'd start looking at the throttle bodies to see if maybe the butterflies are open due to carbon maybe check the tps to see if it's reading it's lowest point when fully closed - definitely something that's not going to throw a code.

I have tried holding the throttle open a little it doesn't seem to help, almost think lack of fuel, if i set the idle screw up would that help or is the same as holding the throttle open a little? I just hate keep cranking it for 4-5 times, but it always has eventually started. side note: once it was 20 below and my phazer started on second pull with the rope around clutch when my starter went out back in 08, my skid doo buddies were amazed, must admitt me too.

One other thing I have noticed is right after it starts it seems to idle faster than when hot, when hot the idle speed really drops off. I tried setting idle up but I think that "gizmo" is stuck beneath the rubber plug in belly pan. I tried turning it and no go. my buddies says it sounds like a wankle, I gueess thats an old snowmobile before my time.

My 08 MTX does the same thing as well. I'm pretty sure it is due to the intake air temp sensor getting heat soaked after sitting for a bit. This would cause the fuel mixture to lean out while trying to start.

I have to start it with a bit of throttle and keep the rpms up for a few seconds. Basically, let the IAT sensor cool back down to ambient air temp and adjust the fuel trim to proper levels.

I have a 2010 rtx that is harder to start when its hot only 500 miles on it . last year i use to press the throttle alittle seemed to work. told a buddie about it he said to let it idle for 10 to 15 seconds till idle smoothens out . his advice seems to work decent for me . 20/80
