Also people saying the same people are building both sleds is pure speculation who knows Yamaha may have there own line .....Yamaha or cat has not said otherwise....

This is all one big reason why I myself wouild not touch this sled for the first year....I think they(yamaha) will lose some guys for awhile till the fog clears....Iam sorry but yes some of you guys may be right on some things but the manufacture resevers the right to change without notice as it is written. I think they may have spent a couple of years or what ever making the business deal between the two but have spent very little on the production/ bulid part. It kinda shows with all the back and forth and this and that going on. Not very smart when launching a new product...

There is one snowmobile line in TRF. Labor is very tight. Unemployment is very low. There is zero housing for these magical new workers to come in and build a few thousand sleds, which on the line that exists will not take very long. I will try not to be any more direct than that.09nytro said:Also people saying the same people are building both sleds is pure speculation who knows Yamaha may have there own line .....Yamaha or cat has not said otherwise....

Agreed however, that doesn't mean Yamaha won't bring in their own quality assurance team to oversee production.

cat has had batteryless efi for a very long time, so i do not think efi will be a issue, snowtrax the canada tv show says they had a viper 4 a week of rideing and claim that it was a very fast sled that has a ride and handels second to none,so i am sure that when i get mine in the fall it will be a blast and all the naysayers will be just that because they do not have one, the last few years there has been alot of bashing about nothing new,i here there was a sunomie or a big wave in japan that sort screwed up some of yamahas infustructure, then when they come out with a new sled so be it a hybred people freakout, just a thought!!!

It would be very nice to see a JD Power/ Comsumer report on sleds like there is on vehicles. I talked to a guy a little while back who was either very informed in the snowmobile world or was a world class bullshiter. But he said quality/warranty ratio in DOLLERS PER UNIT not overall dollars spent on warranty was the same as market share opposite to quality, in that Doo spent so much on warranty that they have offloaded it out to an insurance company/lowest quality. Polaris is second in dollars spent on warranty/ second poorest, which actually suprized me (I would have put them in a solid last) Cat even with their clutch/ belt and reverse problems (which they seemed to have fixed? for 2013 (reverse) are still better than their NORTH AMERICAN peers.
The 2013 is because we had a very good season here and Cat owners made 4 or 5000 K on their sleds with no issues other than belts.

Doo should lead in warranty dollars spent because they have almost 50% of the sled market.......

AC's old school junk batteryless EFI isn't true EFI anyway. It's part EFI.
I'd take a true monitoring EFI with a battery anyday. (True O2 readings, TPS, MAP/BAP sensors etc.)

Have to keep in mind that allot of cat warrantee issues were from boosted sleds that have been tampered with through aftermarket. Probably most 1100 turbos were always running well above 200 plus hp, which is well above their intended design.
I'm sure a stock 135 hp Viper will be fine and reliable. Those that will add big power to it will probably sacrifice reliability more then they would think. Throw an extra 100 hp at anything and the true colors usually come out.

I think you should look into it a lil more cause it is more than just clutchs and j shaft the done a lot more work with both companys .. andviper has more difference then clucths and shaftjdinny said:nytrolabrador said:the chaincase has been improved alot by yamaha and cat will be using there changes aswell..fuel maps are different between the two companys ..there are no doubt diff fasteners..and bolts have been upgraded in rear suspemsion for both companys...j-shaft has not been changed there using cats..you are right about clutchs and plastic though hahahha and the plastic is not very different they only cut the part that goes down around the front off..jdinny said:The ZR7000 and the Vipers are the same sled.
No different bolts and nuts, no different fuel maps, no different chaincase.
Yamaha clutches, Yamaha splines on the j-shaft, different plastic and different shocks. That's it.
It's gonna be a real nice sled, especially boosted!
Negative ghost rider. They're the same sled except the differences I stated. We sell 'em both.I'd be pretty hard to get a Yamaha clutch on a cat splined j-shaft, haha
Have a great day

I said "DOLLARS PER UNIT" not total dollars spent.
They may be approaching 50% of the dollars spent on warranty, but they do not have 50% of the market.
Approximatly 130,000 units sold world wide last year, Ski Doo has about a 7% lead in market share, so if Ski Doo has 50% Polaris has 43% that would leave about 8000 customers divided between Cat and Yamaha, I don't think so.

But this sled has been around for past two years! BS if anyone believes that 3 or 4 hp between the Nytro motor and Cat motor makes a magical difference! Clutching may be better on the Yamaha version ... still 6+ year old motor in a two year old chassis that already offers a similar hp motor ... not ground breaking or earth shattering .... too much blue tint on the goggles. As for all of the definitive answers as to how different each sled will be ... look back to pre release to see how many posters knew for sure that the new sled would be the nytro motor in a recycled cat chassis. Not freaking out because its a "hybrid" just not impressed with the hype and end result .... was expecting something new in chassis development and bump in power to make a statement that Yamaha was back in the game!

Huh?? 3-4 hp?? I saw the cat 4 stroke at 121 hp...nytro at 136 hp....thats a 15 hp difference.....not similar at all.
I have ridden both...that cat Suzuki is a pooch..the nytro will kick its arse bad....if you ask me...the cat guys who wanted a better 4 stroke trail sled, will be extremely happy.....they are getting a smoother, faster, lighter 4 stroke...thats far more fuel efficient...oh...and it wont sound like a dying cow.
