Heated Seat won't work.

So YPP only good as toilet paper! Perfect timing.
Not even as good as toilet paper in this case for me , but I am puzzled as to how some owners get their seat heater covered , and some don't ???
Could it be some dealers fix them and don't replace them ?
Could it be some dealers feel more obligated to cover it , to keep their customers happy ?
Is YPP different in the U.S. than in Canada ?

If I had known it wasn't going to be covered , I probably wouldn't have bothered taking it in , and maybe tried to fix it my self in the summer .
I wasn't expecting a $350 bill , especially after splitting a $1800 bill for what should of been a warranty claim on the driveshaft/chaincase issue .

I do know that the next ride after getting the heater fixed , I was very glad it worked .

Just had my heated seat fixed and sent to an upholstery shop to have it stapled correctly. My dealer said they were stainless staples and didn’t want to mess with it. All covered under warranty.

I always thought engine coolant could be used to heat bars and seats. would be extra cooling and less stator load both

I wonder if my problem is where these two little black wires from elements may have broke off where they connect to the larger ones? No insulation but still attached.

Mine broke here but i re-inforced similar to Turboflash above.

So I'm going to fix mine this week with turboflashes fix. There is five wires and three are black. Turboflash has three wires in his, one black and two white. Did he splice three black into one?

had the heated seat fixed under warranty, got the sled back and now the seat is TOO HOT, I mean it burns me. Had other red the sled and they agree it's too hot, I'm surprised the seat hasn't melted...any clues as to why this is happening?

did they change the switch as well? Maybe it is the wrong switch without the resistors in it.

To my knowledge, the oem wiring for a seat heater that has hi-lo is that the factory switch has a resistors built into it. The book says the element cannot be tested. However, it also shows a spec resistance for both hi and lo. This tells me that even on hi there is resistance engineered into circuit. If they fixed the heater and do not have the oem switch I would guess there is too much voltage to pad so it gets too hot.
I can look up the resistance values if someone needs them.

Yes. 3 black wires are ground. Pic below shows 5 wires. Notice multiple breaks in wires. Oem choice of wire is nfg. They use a wire that's stiff and does bend easily. Can you imagine how hard that wire is at 0 degF? I replace those wires with a super flexible silicone insulated wire. The wire I use has hundreds of conductors (instead of only about 20) very very small in diameter in addition to the silicone insulation. When I put it in my hone freezer, after a few hours, it's still as flexible as it was at room temp. Oem wire is just plain terrible for cold-weather.

that would be great, I will pass along this info to the dealer, sleds going in on Nov. 3rd and the heated seat is an issue...when I mentioned the problem to the service dept. there was no mention of resistors or different switches they might have used to repair the first time. I appreciate all who have shared their knowledge and helping me out. Joe

I have no idea if they changed out the switches but will check my repair sheet to see if they did. thanks for the help!! Joe
