Helix Shims

My testing was done in back to back runs maybe 15 minutes different... shimmed it up trail side. Spring was showing coil bing big time. Added .070 shims and shimmed belt deflection .070. Nothing changed belt deflection was the same and I gained 10 mph+ will definitely be machining spring pocket.

What kind of rpm change did you notice, you know like lower rpms throughout because of belt being lower after shimming ? What setting was used? WOT rpms?

6-1, holds 8750-8800 at wot. Didn't notice much change in rpms. Felt like the wall was removed after shimming. Same thing happened to my viper with a spring change. Not as dramatic gains on the viper though. Sled is all stock except TP primary kit and an Ice Attak XT

Thanks! I plan on installing the shims tomorrow so very good info whereas I won't get to try it out until next weekend.

Don't forget a dab of blue loctite on studs mine barely made it to the nylons

I was able to do some testing on trail today with the .070" shims under helix. I also spun the helix to 6-1 settings and I also have the 1.22 XT track. Hoping to gain some speed but that was not the case, but atleast it should stop the coil bind and hopefully prevent blown belts. Also realized that you also need to add a .070" shim to secondary bolt for keeping same belt height in secondary. Hard packed trail with 1-2" of snow on top, slightly downhill, maybe 1/4 mile long. 119 speedo /. 116 gps.

Same spot 2 weeks (prior to shims and at 400 miles)ago same conditions 120 speedo, did not bother with gps.

Was up to that same spot prior to the sled being broke in, same trail but icy conditions, had the stock track without studs so I was letting off at 114 or so( just dangerous). But anyways my buddy's 08 Apex which is stock except for the yamacharger ,was running 132 speedo/119 gps on that icy trail/road. His was equal to mine on top today 116 ish.
He has gained almost 10 mph with that and better gas mileage !!!!!!
Have been checking secondary clutch rollers every 100 miles, now have 500 and found a flat one (ordered cat rollers)during the shim add yesterday, also saw the beginning of coil binding on the spring so shimming will help that.

My sled seems to fall off at 115 and then tick off 1 at a time after that. I was hoping for 120 and then falling off..

Looks like a flash or exhaust next year.
