I keep getting a lot of ice under my tunnel. At first I thought that the suspension was set to soft. But it is the track hitting the ice in the bad stuff.
What are you guys doing?
Does yamaha have a fix?
Can a heat exchanger be added there?

I have the same problem. You defintley have to pick up and drop the back end a lot while riding. Mine has gotten a lot worse since I added the tunnel protecters, and extra heat exchanger. I am thinking of adding some sort of a flashing or plate to the underside to help. At least around the exhaust. I bet I had a 100lbs under it on the last trip. The suspension was down, and didn't even want to come back up.

A lot are also making rear aluminum plates under their seats. There is a thread going on that right now with pics. I already tried it. It didn't work with my application. Due to the after market exhaust, and heat exchanger. There are more place on mine for ice to grab.

I removed by tunnel protectors and now carry one of those plastic dead-blow mallets in my truck. Every morning before I ride I bang on the outside of the tunnel the whole length and then on the underside of the back. Put it on a track stand and run the sled in reverse. Sucks to have to do, but it's the least amount of effort and the lack of tunnel protectors greatly reduces buildup.

I have 1.450 studs and an extra heat exchanger. So the removal won't help me any. Thanks for the help though

Here ya go this is your high tec fix for the day i no its been said before CARRY A CAN OF PAM WITH YOU it works and ride hard over the big moguls it will knock most of it out plate is dificult because the seat will get real hot.

I am running a Back Country 1.75" with the stud protectors removed. Because of this I do not have any ice build-up problems in the front and in the middle of the tunnel. Though, in certain conditions, the ice build-up in the rear of the tunnel, just behind the silencer, is...well, worse than the picture above. I am a little bit concerned about the outcome if a big piece of rock hard ice falls down and follows the track into the tunnel. Squeezed exhaust or punctured heat exchanger...?
