Hey Viper owners..tell me what you think

I am still on the fence about the Viper....I currently own an 11 apex xtx, and like it a lot...but I'd like a little better ride, and just don't need the top end on this apex ( I'm getting older and wiser...lol)...After reading through a lot of your posts...this is what I think an ideal set-up for me would be....many people told me not to go from an apex...that I'd be very disappointed in the performance..but I think I could live with the lack of top end...with a few of these things..I do hope to finally get some saddle time on one this winter (a friend of mine has a 2016 ltx).

How does this sound??

Get a 2015 or 2016 viper ltx ( without air shocks)
Get medium windshield (if it doesn't have it)
switch track to a 1.6 ice cobra
get a triple point carbibe kit for the dual tuner's, or go back to Yamaha single runner skis and run dually carbides.
Get an Ulmer clutch kit, and get the clutches machined to run an 8 DN belt...this will make it go over 100..(correct??)...again top speed isn't that important..but id' like it to shift out better and at least be somewhat competitive with my buddy's 2015 1200 doo....right now I smoke him...it's actually not all that fun beating him anymore...he thinks the vipers are slow though...so I'd like to surprise him and at least hang with him..lol

Let me know what you guys think...or tell me what cool mods you may have that I have missed...I do not want a turbo, or anything like that..a little clutching is fine..but otherwise I like my machines mostly stock.

what is your fuel economy like with the pc5...do they make a snow tracker for dual tuners??

not sure yet lol.. I just installed pc5 with a different map from hurricane! I don't think it will make a big difference on fuel economy!
As for trackers I have them on the single carbide ski(2014) the might make it for dual tuners you'd have to check there site

Or just ride it stock as a box of rocks. Meaning it Rocks right out of the box! I'm a trail rider. Occasional 70-80mph bursts, then back down to 25-30mph. My favorite trails are tight & twisty. Going faster just gets me in trouble. Even when we think we're riding quite spirited, average gps speed is usually in the 20-30mph range. Check it sometime. Even with the Apex, unless you're a lake rider most of the time, the average speed will be similar.

I've seen 93 mph, gps said 92mph, in ideal conditions. This is comparable to my previous sleds. But the XF7000Ltd, most similar to the Viper LTX-SE, ride quality is phenomenal!
No mods other than a mid-height windshield, heated shield port, and Cold Guard hand wind protection.
The Float 3's are fine. Set them at 70psi and fine tune from there.

For me, I have no problem with the stock set up. Only future mods are the Stealth 4 wheel kit, Dupont slides just because, and fuse relocate, which should be done this weekend.

This machine has been nothing but smiles for the past 1250 miles. Why not try your new ride stock and decide from there?

I did nothing more than put on a set of dually carbides, removed the transfer blocks, messed with the front limiter strap a bit, bolted on an msrp trail can and shimmed the secondary. This plan didn't cost me much and hasn't been much trouble. I also run battery tender all the time.

This sled doesn't really do anything great but does pretty much everything pretty good. Cant say as I ever thought to myself " this sled sucks" under any conditions. 90 something plus is fast enough for me.

I looked at there site and they do have trackers for tuners!

My rep tells me the trackers for tuners are a good improvement, but single keel skis with trackers work better.

you do not need to machine the clutches to run an 8DN. I would suggest the OSP belt deflection adjuster though.

I run an MBRP can, Thunder Product's Big Venom clutch kit w/911 cover, OSP belt defection adjuster, gates carbon belt and 144 1.5 warthogs, I ran 105mph on GPS(107 on the speedo) To make it go around corners I put a set of Curve skis with 6"shapers and Hygear dual pressures to soften the floats up a bit. I'm happy with the sled , it's first 4stroke I've owned, I run with my buddies 800 e-tec and Rush no problems and spend less at the pumps!!

This is the set up I will be running after I get a few miles on through break in period. I will not be running studs but put a 1.75 back country on. I also went with thunder products belt adjuster and sticking with 8DN!

Are u guys seeing higher speed or is it quicker out of the hole with the 8dn (and OSP belt deflector kit)??
