Just found out yesterday that Yamaha is releasing a flash this fall for at least the 2015 model viper. I'd wager a guess that it will cover 2014 and 2016 as well.

Dealer in Sweden says the flash update will be made from Yamaha/Mitsubishi because the arctic can't fix the ecu starter issue.

GREAT that would eliminate my only concern as I love this SLED. Have had zero starter problems but to know I wont is even better. Yamadoo

I hope this is a recall. So it covers all vipers from 14-17 cuz I don't want to have to pay to have my ecu flashed. I have a 14 and ZERO issues, but I had the ecu flashed as soon as the first flash was available for hard starts and hot stars.

Ugh!
I absolutely hope it is not a recall.
I just spent $500 to have my ecy reflashed by evo because this sled simply does not run right.
Now hearing there is another flash coming is making me sick to my stomach.
I have been waiting and waiting and now i finally gave up on yamaha fixing the running issues with this sled and went the evo route.
I cant understand how an aftermarket company can fix the problem in 1/4 of the time it takes the oem.
This whole ecu issue is just stupid!
Yamaha and cat thought they did fix issues with the first reflash and for many they did. I am sure they are addressing the variances from one sled to another and evaluating how it works in a mass trial. Rumor is the late 16's have it already. That would be smart to know it works and is consistant. The first flash was not a recall it was not mandatory. If that one wasn't a recall then you can be confident this reflash will not be either. The first one addressed some issues such as a low idle that actually could be considered a safety issue yet it still was not a recall.Ugh!

Question for me is , is it worth getting the updated flash? My sled has had zero start issues for 3000 miles.

I have a late 16 model or as some say 16.5. I have not had a problem with starts or anything.
Maybe the sled all ready had the new flash?
I have 3500 miles on sled.
