- 2014 Yamaha Viper LTX SE MPI Turbo
loudelectronics said:You and me both. I really like this sled. I just wish it had the power stock and not have to dump 6 grand into it to make it go like it should. With 190 hp it feels just right and very manageable.
Like you I am getting tired of buying a sled and having to put all this coin into it when my buddies buy a stock sled and just ride it. I had to pay an extra 6 grand to go where they go. Only plus side is that I am always there to tow home... but the other brands are getting really reliable these days too so my towing service is not going so well these days.
Lol...you got that right! I love the power as well! But this is how it should be stock! Man would that be nice! I won't spend anymore money on a sled. Except small stuff. No more 5-6 grand on a already 12,000$ sled! I don't want to switch brands!! But I wish Yamaha would get going and make some 800 power in this or similar chassis! This thing is so much fun with 190hp. Feels like it should be that way! For the price anyway! I already ordered two polaris switchbacks, one Pro S and one pro X. Just thinking I could almost buy both of these sleds for the price I paired for one Viper turbo. Crazy, well maybe I'm crazy! I work way to much in the summer to have any free time. Or any time to do anything, so I save it all up for winter! I want to keep my Viper! So I can keep talking with you guys here. TY rocks and I really like reading and posting on here. I know I still can, but wouldn't be right if I didn't at least keep my Viper! I really think I'm going to keep it. Cause it is fun as hell!!

I had the OSP but it was too loud. Do you know what the db level is on the Hindle?

I like the D&D quiet can, good mid range gain, nice tone but not overly loud..it won't get you in trouble, and you can access the chain tensioner.

I got a short video up on YouTube. Video quality is kinda poor but sound quality is good. http://youtu.be/13mS2Qqd3u4

Go hindle. I had the OSP and my head hurt bad way too loud. Hindle sounds a bit louder at idle and mid with a great tone up top. I put full system on. Plus if you want to go even quieter I think you can get quiet core from hindle (you would need to verify). Don't believe you would need it though.

Thanks did you feel any gains and can you check chain tension?

Yes chain tensioner is accessible. It's not super easy to get to with the can on but it's not any harder than my previous yamaha sleds. The can give an 8hp gain and the real world gain is there too. I have a buddy with a viper ltx, with the same clutch setup as mine. We have been doing field testing all winter long. Before I put the can on our sleds compared as followed: (all testing was done doing roll on starts, both sleds were studded and hooking up) mine would get the initial jump, 1/2 a sled length at most, mid range he would gain back and we would run dead even until rough 90-95mpg and then I would pull 1/2-1 sled length on him toping out at around 101-102 in 1/4 mile on ice hard snow. Put the can on and didn't touch the clutching. Take off was exactly the same. He would come back in the mid range and the. Once we hit 50-60 mph the extra hp of the can kicked it because my sled just started hitting the rev limiter and as speed increased it hit more and more often. I was excited when that happened because that is exactly where the viper needs the added hp. Nobody is disappointed about the low end power of the viper. Everyone wants more top end speed. Well we spent a whole day getting the clutching dialed in and at the end of the day the results were: mine still got the intial 1/2-1 sled length jump. Right around 50-60 mph I could start to see his skis in the corner of my eye and then at around 70 it's like he put the brakes on. Running the same 1/4 mile distance I pulled an easy 2 full sled lengths on him. Still ran the same 101-102mph but once the sled got to 70, before you could feel it settle in and slow down some, with the can you could noticeably tell that it was pulling harder. Great sound and great performance! And chain tensioner accessible which is what everyone wants.

Yes thanks for that sound clip , that D&D has a very nice sound not much louder than stock !

No it's really not much louder at all than stock. It has the same exact sound as stock just a little deeper tone. When I was on the driveway you can hear it's a little louder but out on the snow you wouldn't be able to tell the difference over stock. The snow muffles the sound a lot

Do you mean your AFR censor? not sure if you will throw a code but you blow the motor cause that adjusts the fuel ration.

Mine has a turbo on it and the original parts are boxed up. Ive never seen the stock location for the a/f censor mine has 2 bungs for the ecu and one for the AFR gauge
