Is it possible to do much of the service work in the sled. I don't have a puller.
Yes you can, it'll be tight but you can take it all apart still on the sled. If it doesn't move I and out freely it'll be hard to polish the contact point but still can be done.

By contact point, do you mean the shaft?

I’m running a dayco xtx5048, which is supposed to be a slightly softer compound. I’m headed to the sandbox in a few weeks so I won’t be riding next year, but the year after that I’ll be willing to try a different belt. I didn’t feel much of a difference between the dayco and the stock belt. More belt dust with the dayco, but that’s probably because it’s a softer compound.Anyone try the 0627-075 belt for the 7000 it's supposed to have more grip and run at a lower rpm.

The thing with the big dog weights is they act roughly 3 grams heavier than they are, so your 55's act like a 58 gram weight..in which case is still probably on the light side. I had 53 gram big dogs in the one we clutched, was spot on stock, once I did air box mod then it would hit the rev limiter anything over 95 and was a slow climb to 99 because of the rev limiter. 55's would've been spot on with that one. I got a set of notched 75 big dogs if u wanna try them lol may need to throw some boost at it tho. I'd maybe give d&d a call and see if they got any used big dogs that would get u closer to where u need to be. The profile compliments the power deliver of the engine so well it'd be a shame to go back to something else. Cat clutches are definitely cheap and won't last as long as a yammi clutch but they operate so smooth and are very quiet compared to the yammi clutches.
I almost want to try those 75’s!! It would be the total opposite of the problem I’m having now lol. I will call DD. Is your buddy with the 7000 interested in the 55g big dogs? I’ll give him a deal. I need to off load the 51’s, 53’s and 55’s. It’s not like I’m going to go back to a stock airbox. My next mod will be gutting the stock exhaust. I’d buy an aftermarket one but the wardens in VT will ticket you if you have anything other than a stock exhaust under your side panel. So I need to be a little sneaky about my exhaust mods. Has to look stock, can’t be too loud.

To my knowledge he's either sold the sled or is trying to sell the sled, haven't talked to him much the last couple years but I know he had it for sale so I'm sure he's not interested in investing any more into it. Pm me your address I'll send you those notched weights to try..if all else fails and it's under revving way too much but throw a real stiff finish rate spring in there. Gonna wanna keep preload rate real low on them or it'll be way too high of engagement unless you like that. I ran them in a 180 horse 2 stroke but they were way too light, believe I had a 160/290 spring in there and had 4600 engagement..but to me the cat clutches engage way smoother than the yammi clutches. My 800 engaging at 4600 is smoother than my viper at 3500.

There really isnt anything wrong with the 2014 cat 7000 clutches. he most likely just has the non updated weights and its to light...specially with the airbox mod...mine once broke in was hitting the limiter all the time with the pre update weights.....I ran a few years with the updated weights no issues, now have bmp weights and again no issues...havent got the perfect weight yet but its pretty close. My stock clutches have almost 13,000kms on them, nothing is wore out and ive never had a belt failure.

I'l check if I have the 60 gram weights tonight or tomorrow. Can I just pry the clutch open with a screwdriver to check? If I pull the cover off the clutch, will I be able to get it back on in the sled? There really isnt anything wrong with the 2014 cat 7000 clutches. he most likely just has the non updated weights and its to light...specially with the airbox mod...mine once broke in was hitting the limiter all the time with the pre update weights.....I ran a few years with the updated weights no issues, now have bmp weights and again no issues...havent got the perfect weight yet but its pretty close. There like any other magnetic adjustable weights work just fine...think they start at 57 then you add weightWhat do your BMP weights weigh? And do you like them?
Mark the cover and just blast out the bolts its easy to get back on with the stock spring no worriesI'l check if I have the 60 gram weights tonight or tomorrow. I pulled the cover off the primary and checked the weights. 57's. Looks like I'll be changing them out. Not sure if I should go to the 60's or something aftermarket? I might be able to talk my dealer into giving the 60's to me. It was supposed to be an update.
