Was thinking about adding some vents to my sled to help it cool down. Looking at alternative options to the IP vent or the more expensive modrod type vents. Any thoughts?

My buddy used the 3" round ones on his ski poo by the clutch. It worked awesome and looks great!

Just ordered the frog skins for the top of sled near gauges to release some of the heat build up in the engine compartment. Gonns make a few holes possibly in the top plastic and cover with frogzskins. Ordered the triangle and 3 inch round to see what looks better.

Been thinking of using the round one inplace of the Yamaha emblems on the hood. About the same size and perfect location behind the radiator.

post pis when ur done, i am also thinking of doing something like this....

Here are some pics of the vents. Have to really ride to see if they make a difference. Messed one up, but oh well.

I made my own for my XP a couple years ago. I used perforated steel plate (aluminum is better but I got steel for free) that I cut to shape and had powdercoated, put screendoor material behind it and riveted it to the panels. I want to do the same with my Nytro but it'll be harder to curve the metal since it doesn't have straight lines like the XP.

How well do those frogzskins stick to the rough plastic on the Nytro's. I have some aluminum ones built for the panels just behind the shocks. PITA to curve and make fit but I think they will look good in the end. Need to get some flo rite material or frogzskin to cover that also.

They adhesive is extremely sticky. You really only have one shot to get it right. I was surprised. I did prep the area to remove any oils/dirt/wax. I also warmed the plastic with a heat gun since I was applying this in my garage.

I vented my IP with a 1/4" drill bit. Put about 30 holes in it. You really don't get much snow up there. Seemed to help a bit, I have a temp gauge. May buy the IP vent down the road.

FYI.... you can buy FILTERSKIN material in bulk / sheets @ dennis kirk for a reasonable $$$

Tapp:

What are you using for adhesive? I am looking to put frogskin directly on the side cover vents and a few other places directly onto the plastic. I was thinking of using silicone, but not sure this will work very well.

Also, how did you prep. Sand and rubbing alcohol?

Thanks,
OTM
