Thanks to BBY he's done a test on all the clutch kits and informed us that they all pull nice but we need TRACTION! I was running 144 down the middle, but next year I'm thinking of going to 168 or even 192. What are some of you doing to get these things to "stick" and launch out of the hole?

I'd like to know too. traction is great on hard pack & grass but I just spin on ice with 144 up the middle.

If you want transfore
You need to dump the ripsaw and go to a shot lug track with a longer stud. I run a .75 in mine and It comes out like a monster. I ran 1.080 roetins but I'm going to up them to 1.180 for next winter. Here are some numbers for penatraion. the First are for .75 track the second are for a 1 inch and the third are for a 1.25 inch lug track
Stud length - lug height
1.080 - .75 = .33 penatration
1.180 - .75 = .43 penatration almost 1/2 inch
1.340 - 1.0 = .34 penatration
1.450 - 1.0 = .45 penatration
Flip side
1.340 - 1.25 = .09 penatration
1.450 - 1.25 = .20 penatration
As you can see you can't get the penatration with the ripsaw.

Wow! that sheds some light on the subject, that's all you get with a 1.450 stud? I have to go measure it...

Ive seen this track on other sleds and they hook up better. I think it the suspension+the weight of the sled that is hurting these sleds on harder surfaces.

Craig I like the way you think! When my 07 RTX comes in I have your blueprint to go byMyOutdoors said:Thanks to BBY he's done a test on all the clutch kits and informed us that they all pull nice but we need TRACTION! I am planning a 136 install on the GT with prob. a 1" 6-pitch fully clipped, 216 1.325 Gold diggers.

I agree...ditch the ripsaw, its for powder and is soft lug track...if you want speed get hard durometer fully clipped track with longer studs...and you need more scratch line guys!...studding up middle is for trail riding...if you want to drag race and hook up against buddys you need studs in and out of rails...30+scratch lines.
another trick most guys are now using along with longer studs is to mix in 48 chisels, just slightly shorter then your carbide studs, they will last abit longer this way when road crossing...the chisels will hook like a mother.

I was alwayys told the outer edge wouldn't help with holeshot? Also, if I stay with the ripsaw, haven't guys torn there tracks studding the outside? It's wierd, I thought I was getting one of the best tracks on the market, now I wish it came with a 1 incher.

scratch lines = holeshot....chisels also help alot!...you cant get near the scratch line if you only stud in middle...
if you stud all over track you lose SOME trail ability to throw back end around when going thru twisty trails..you can compensate with larger front carbides on skis..
Also, rememeber of you want top end speed, then you want less studs....less rotating mass....
more studs in and out is more for guys who drag race alot short distances..and dont care too much about radaring...
ripsaw is an awesome track but wont hold up near as long as a predator which is harder durometer, shorter lug.
