How do I attach a video to my post?

I tried to attach a very short (808 KB) video to a post but I received an error message that the file extension type (.MOV) is not allowed.

1) Can I save it on my computer as a different file extension type and then attach it? If so, please elaborate.

2) If video is allowed what is the maximum file size?

Its way easier to add it to YouTube or Facebook Video and then use the Movie Strip and Embed it. Currently the site could upload Vid but it would bog the server as we are not setup to host that kind of bandwidth.
