Well i got a used stator and flywheel .... And i put them in although not nowing how to set the timing i just installed the bolts in the same place as the marks on the stator (imprints from bolts) and then put the flywheel on..

IT RUNS... but im not sure if it is right... IM very happy i got it to run atleast..

how do you check the timing??

There should be a window in the top of the housing above the flywheel. With timing marks on the flywheel.

But you should be fine reinstalling in the same position

It starts with one pull...

I cant see the stator with the flywheel back on.. I might have hit it on the head right away or CLOSE!!

THanks guys

Just curious Welter, what did you end up paying for the used pieces?

I gave $150 for the flywheel and stator + $8 shipping... And they came and looked like NEW!!

THe flywheel is $310 new and the stator is $125 new... SO i got a good deal!!

If I were guessing at the timing, I would try to err on the side of caution... turn the stator clockwise to delay ignition slightly, that way you won't be as likely to blow the top end.

Typically, for timing this type of 2-stroke, you use a feeler in the cylinder. The timing should be stated as 1 to 3 mm BTDC. There are two holes in the flywheel to give you access to the stator bolts with the flywheel on. You turn the motor slowly clockwise until you reach TDC, then back off until the feeler reads at spec, then turn the stator until its line matches up with the mark on the flywheel.
