Ok this is back from the dead now. heres another question. my plans have changed a bit and im planning on actually supercharging this mut of a build instead. How much boost could i run through the carbs without haveing to worry about replacing the caps and T's?

You can get by with the caps but it would be smart to change to the billet Tees.

Ken....

nice install but if you get a bad fuel mixture coming up on boost you may want to include a peito tube to increase responce to float bowls and fuel pump also a defuser for inlet air to equalize pressures to each carb . just some thoughts have some fun

Yeah im also planning on running a wideband set up so i can keep a close eye on my AFR's to keep them in check. Im excited to jump into this and if i can get into the supervisor in training program at my work im going to be doing this sooner. Also i plan on running an adjustable rate fuel pressure regulator that will reference the boost and increase my fuel pressure pound for pound with the boost.

I don't know what you're running for a fuel pump but on my snowmobile with those carbs I have a 125 psi fuel pump and a recirculating line from the regulator back to the tank. I use an Aeromotive fuel regulator.

Ken.......

Sweet i was going to go with the aeromotive fpr so thats good to know i have the re-circ lines in the car already I just need to figure out my pump situation. I currently have a carter 4070 pump but its only good for 15psi.

Thanks everybody thats added insite despite this being on a car and not a sled. Some of the forums ive looked for info on have just bashed me for posting car stuff trying to get some info.

Keep us informed on your progress and let us know how it works. I plan on doing the same thing to one of my Metros to get some more ponys under the hood.

Ken....

If you have the 1.3l in yours look into something smaller carb wise like the r6 carbs or even maybe smaller than that. id say something with like a 33mm diameter throat on it. for the 1.8l vws 36mm are the best so id think smaller would be better on the 1.3l If you need any help let me know im getting good at dialing the motorcycle/snowmobile carbs period onto the cars. thinking about doing a carb conversion for a vr6 but then i need to figure out putting 6 bodies together and syncing them.

Actually that 1.3 is the bigblock. I'm only running the 1.0 3 cyl. Maybe I'll just build a pressure hat for the throttle body and skip the carbs. The fuel system would be easier with carbs since I allready know how to make it work.

Ken....

Nah go with something off like the triumph speed triple the carbs would already be set up in the sence of throttle plates ect linked and all you need is an adapter to go from the intake sid eof the head to the carbs. if they have an aluminum intake on them if you were to send me the carbs and intake i would send you back the adapter ect and even make the intake plenum for the carbs to boost them. im thinking im going to start getting into this as a past time other than work.

So when setting up the carbs for boost do i need to make sure the entire front of the carbs is enclosed to my plenum? or just the primarey inlet?
