Guys, I have an 2010 Apex LTX GT and would like to carry a couple gallons of extra fuel on back country trips and was wondering what you guys use?
I bungied corded a 2 gallon gas can on the tunnel extension of my warrior but would like an better option?
I have looked at the stackable type from Kolpin and Rotopacs, They have what appears to be a good mounting system and claim to be secure? Anyone using these?

I bought a trunk bag and a 4 litre can to carry extra gas on my apex xtx and had no issue with it.

I just got a 3 gallon Rotopac. Went for a week in the mountains and it worked great. 10 seconds to unhook it from the sled. It pours pretty good for a can with no vent. I was impressed with the mount. Can't go wrong in my opinion.

Thanks guys I think I will go with the rotopac or the Koplin. I like the lock down system. I have a rear cooler under my LTX but still appears to be room to mount the lock down. Do you guys have any pics?

I received the Pac mount yesterday, after doing some looking and measuring it will be a tough fit with my rear cooler. I don't have the gas can yet so I will see when I get that. I was thinking of making a mounting plate, attaching that to the sides of rear tunnel then mounting the Pac mount to it with the can. leaving about an 1/2 to inch gap above the rear tunnel as to not affect rear cooler. just my thoughts? pics anyone of how you mounted yours?

Rotopac makes a mount for sleds. All it does is give you a raised area to put your mount on. Look at there web page. Looks like it would be easy to make if you have, or can find a brake. It is pricy. My rear cooler is not stock so it was not in the way.

Thanks, I saw that mount but thought I wouldn't need it, I may have been wrong! Good reminder!

Gas storage
Mounted the Koplin pac system yesterday. Only able to use 4 mounting holes( Rear cooler) but seems like the system should be sturdy enough. What do you think? 1 and 1/2 extra gallons will be an improvement. I don't like the fuel light comming on and then guessing if I can make it back! 10 gallon tank is just not enough.

I have the same setup on my MTX. I just have a longer tunnel to mount to. I would frequently check to see if the exhaust was warming the tank at all during long runs and the tank was just as cold as the aluminum. I wouldn't worry about the exhaust. It is always nice to have an extra 20 miles of fuel strapped to the back just in case.
