hey guys I'm a newbie, i grew up with snowmobiles, but my father got rid of them in 97 when i was 11, because he srewed up his back. I currently don't have a snowmobile, but I want to get an rx-1, because of the performance potential of the engines. Anyways Im not getting one this winter because im getting surgery for a torn acl. But next winter probably am getting one plus Ill have more money to get a trailer. But I was wondering what the stock performance is, like 1/4 mile for the RX-1. And these engines are basically the same engines that yamaha uses in their r1 bike right?

Hey pastortroy, you're in the right forum, just look at the posts or search with keyword "asphalt" and you'll find tons of stuff. Nospro and I have posted all kinds of results. Also you may want to pick up the February issue of American Snowmobiler Magazine in which has this years AM Super Sled Shoot-out which has a write-up on my stock rx1, Simons CPR Trail Turbo and Bender's racing turbo's results in that magazine.

alright i did the search sounds like they run around 11-12 sec in the 1/4 mile, thanks hlmrx1 for the pointer. I'm going up to antigo, wisconsin where my roomate lives and going to get some more experience riding, hes got a sled i
can use. My roomate has a 01 polaris xcsp 600 i believe, and another polaris like a 400 or something? But I am anxious to get some experience riding so if and when I do get an rx-1 I'll have some experience

you're attitude towards it makes me nervous man.

first off come in looking for race performance stuff.. make a reference to the 1. then suggest that you haven't ridden a sled in years.

carefull man... an RX-1 is a nice sled, and controllable yes, but it can get you into ALOT of trouble fast.

surprising how fast any sled with any performance at all will go. most sleds will do 80, mild performance sleds will do 90 and anythign with a big motor hits triple digits really quick-i've seen 105 on my rage...dont know y u'd ever need to go faster. if ur a young guy like me, practice jumping. im 17 and know that in 10 years i wont be able to take the hard hits and falls like i would now. so im jumpin while i can and eventually will find the need for serious speed. o by the way if u ride ur buds poo and then jump onto an rx1...u better hold on bcuz there is a lot more power on the rx1 than the poo-especially a 600

pastortroy - hlmrx1 is correct, there is so much info from 2003-present 1/4 mile times with mod, stock, and shows all of the performance parts we all have tried. Yamaha knew the sled had super huge power, and torque, and kept the sled conservative. My biggest improvements, were the clutching, exhaust, carb springs, and a good carb syncronization.

These rx1's just rock!

hey nos...what do u do to the carb springs? i was up at pat haucks dealership and he was workin on his grass drag sled..and he was clippin the carb springs. he'd only clip one at a time. then he'd do a test and come back and clip the next one? knew it was for performance...didnt know what it did tho.

pimped - I have Barry Holtzman's springs in my carbs, and they give the sled super throttle response. You rode the sled, did you notice the length you had on everyone at the start? That would play the main factor in getting out there first. Holzman recommends the yellow springs for the Vector with stock airbox.

Ryan, (pro116), is doing some testing with the springs on some of the Friday night drags.
