My buddy and I have bitten the bullet and bought new Sidewinders. We have a 450 mile trip coming up, and he already has 300 miles on his, and the dealer cannot get him in before we do our trip. (I think first service is recommended at 500 miles.) Will there be a problem with him having 800 miles before his first service?

I went through this same thing lol I asked on a Winder FB page and consensus was pretty split between get it done now or ok to do it after. I chose to do mine before I went on the longer trip but I was doing it myself so wasn't contingent on a dealer's schedule.

I did mine at 810 miles. I have had no problems. No loose bolts, blown belts, clutch issues or anything. Mine is an 18 LE 50th. Was running TD SM Tunes and now have the 250 to 300 cai tunes.

I appreciate the responses, but if there is anyone who has had issues, either with the sled, or warranty coverages as a result of a late first service, please let me know!!!!!
My buddy had his Sidewinder last weekend, and it was IMPRESSIVE!!! He bought a 2019 LTX-LE which I had been drooling over. I went with him when he signed the deal, and they had a 2019 LTX-DX on the floor. It isn't as flashy as the LTX-LE, but they had just gotten notice of new lower pricing and 0% interest on that sled. The dealer offered me more than I thought my trade was worth, and I couldn't help myself; I pick mine up on Friday.

There is an overage limit set by Yamaha. Not exactly sure the amount .
I was a little late but dealer put a few less km on the work order than the sled read.
Call your dealer.
I'm sure they will do same since they cant get you in before you go.
It wont hurt anything to be a few miles over. Had a Mercedes SUV awhile ago . First service was 12,000 miles.

I don’t believe you are required to have a dealer service your sled at 500 miles as part of the warranty.I appreciate the responses, but if there is anyone who has had issues, either with the sled, or warranty coverages as a result of a late first service, please let me know!!!!!

Many of us would never trust a dealer to work on our baby's...lolI don’t believe you are required to have a dealer service your sled at 500 miles as part of the warranty.
Oil change, chain tension is not that difficult and one of the reasons why I have a step by step thread. Most guys will take more time and pay closer attention to their own sled, then a dealer will.

Saving my first service for the dealer when it gets put away for the year. Tightened up the track at 400miles, adjusted chain, checked out the clutches and will be fine. Ill be lucky to have 800miles on by the end of the season the way were going here. If its not the wind blowing the snow in the bush its the heat melting it all away.
