I'm planning on changing my top gear on my mtx back to a 17t (previous owner put in a gt top gear) but Im at college right now and want to have all my eggs in place before I get back home for Christmas. Any help and Pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

Remove battery, remove 4 bolts to swing the battery box out of the way, remove brake calipers rotor, and remove the side cover. If it has a 20t GT gear you will probably need to remove the lower gear also to get the chain off, I just barely got the chain off a 19t when I just switched to an 18t. 17t ran out of clutch too fast at my ~1800ft altitude on my MTX, 66mph GPS /73 speedo. 19t would go 74gps/82 speedo before it was out of clutch (and took a long run on hard pack. Trying and 18t this winter.

So my sled is an 07, I've read somewhere that there is a chaincase leak that can occur if the chaincase is opened. Is this true?

Never heard of any issue other than the tube going to reverse box. There is a update for that. Different tube. May want to do that while in there but it has nothing to do with taking chaincase cover off.

I do have to rock my sled back and forth to get the R and D to engage and I heard that was a common problem for the 07. My sled does have 8800 miles on it too though.

the 09 i just bought with similar milage is the same way.
