a little venting if i may.....

"Your hand warmers are fine, what are you complaining about?"

"The GT is a groomed trail model, why are you complaining that the rear skid bottoms?"

"Snowmobiles are engineered for the rider who weighs 170-185lbs"

really?

They knew the handwarmers were junk, but denied it and shrugged us consumers off...
The GT bottoms on bumps, what did Supertrax say, "any bigger than a pack of cigarettes?"
The spring wasnt heavy enough in the Mono to support anyone over 200lbs, and you didnt know it till you spent 9grand, went out riding, and ended up with your tail bone jammed between your shoulderblades. So, off to the dealer to spend another $75 and an hour or two to install it. But wait, then the shock wasnt calibrated to handle that much spring load, so another $100 and 2weeks of lost riding while the shock is in New York.....
1500miles of riding, and the front end bushings are worn so bad, the A-A-arm bolt holes in the bulkhead are getting egg shaped....
The skis have been junk since day one, YMC didnt think so, but now has a "brand new aggressive ski"...
One of the coldest sleds on snow, saddening...

Is it just me, or have we pretty much taken the pipe on our Apexes?
Yamaha refines a few things that should be refined year to year, and calls them "new", and "innovative"...
Ya, Whatever, please pay 12grand, meanwhile the 12k 800 E-Tec gets 5-6 more mpg's and is a ton(literally) lighter, and the 12k Z1 gets the same mileage, and completely blows our doors off!!

I will give YMC credit for EPS, and producing a sled that has pretty much been the benchmark for other companies to target and improve upon-BRP decided to cut weight and make 2smokes more efficient and powerful, while offering a nice 4stroke of their own-Arctic Cat has developed a fast nice trail mannered 4stroke...
Do I love my Apex? YES
Do I think the Yammy engineers dropped many balls and left alot of re-engineering up to us consumers? YES

Ok, Im done now.

Rehm i agree with you to a point untill LOL the z1 blowing are doors off?? is 106 all your Apex can do? and yes the Etec gets better gas milage BUT will it last a season without blowing up?? around here that isnt the case there have been etecs Granading around here like crazy i was a Bomi fan for 30 yrs it wasnt till my 07 Apex RTX that i enjoyed snowmobiling worry free, now mind you i am having a small prob right now with Cooling but that was my own fault for not checking Studs and track conditon WE RIDE THE BEST ON THE SNOW PERIOD as far as what your claiming with factory issues Skis Shocks etc they are all cheaper than a motor rebuild which is what youll get when you dont drive a YAMAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, what i meant by the gist of my post was, the sled they "unveiled" on the 2nd, should have been the sled we got two or three years ago, not now, when its called something new and innovative and costs a #*$&@ pot more. All im sayin.

i agree, our motors are badass.

yep, blow our doors off-my group has 2 Z1's, and sorry, it aint close. Plus, thebolt-on performance aftermarket is pretty strong for the Cats-too bad ours aint

YES!! would love more power!! HELL YA!! I would love a lighter sled!!!
but........

What keeps me forever with yami is that I know, after riding 200 miles, at the end of the day, Im riding home on my apex NO ROPES ATTACHED!!

and thats enough for me...
amen.. :yam:

You mean to the front bumper. How many were tied collectively to our rear bumpers last season? :moon:

the problem was we had to much pooo in our flock... id rather ride alone lol

I have to agree with everyone here.... I have owned all brands, new and old... and have alot of seat time on other models.... what i have come too, is that every manufacturer drops the ball in some department.... I've wrenched on new and old sleds... yamaha;s cant keep suspensions in them... they have always been weak in that department... Ski-doo's handle amazing... but motors blow... cat's are fast but overall reliability is not too good... polaris's fit and finish sucks.... and the only motor i would have of them is the 600cfi...

So what it comes down too.... no matter what you drive... things will break!!!! i bought my yammies knowing the "prob" they have... idler wheel, donuts, y-pipe's, ski's..etc.... but everytime i crack on that loud handle that all goes away... the motor in these thoroughbreads is in a class of its own... and thats why i have them.

so really... it all come down too what you can accept and dont want to... pick what you want to drive... run the hell out of it... when you get tired... sell and get another... they make'em everyday...

I don't know, I have yet to see a Z1 beat an Apex. Hasn't even happened in the Shootouts. As I posted somewhere before, I personally spoke to 3 different Z1 owners from 3 different dealers and they all said they were a waist of money speed wise. I've seen race after race Z1's lose to Apex's and 800 Doo's. My buddy traded his Apex in on an E-tech, blew up the first trip out. Never broke down in 4 years with Yamaha. I weigh 210 naked, (TMI?), and never bottomed out on my GT. Yes, it took some adjustments, but mine is stock. I DO agree that some of these changes came too late.

Almost all the new and so called innovative things on the 2011 were complaints, real issues that were around since 06. Cold hands,$hit ski's,under built suspension parts,etc.etc. Instead of acknoldgeing the problems we were told they did not exist. This is nothing but a refined unit, refined to the point it should have been by 08. EPS and Variable exhaust are nothing but already developed tech. That said, I will never ride anything but a Yammi. Looking forward to a used 2011. :drink:

You may vent ...just a little... :)

I've changed the title of your post so readers knows what your're talking about.

Im quite disappointed in the 2011 release myself. As I have mentioned in about 6 of the 30 threads about the 2011's ..... If you go to HCS and listen to the brand bashing it makes me feel like Im back in 6th grade when I would argue with anyone that polaris was the best and If I couldn't prove it, Id make something up.... Well, now I can't stand brand bashing.. They all have goods and bads, its all in what ya wanna fix... Do ya wanna rebuild motors??? Get a doo or poo or cat, ya wanna fix suspension parts and other odds and ends, get a yamaha.. Its all in what ya want...

What originally made me switch to yamaha was I had an xc 700 with 3300 miles on it blown up for the 3rd time. 2nd time that season. It had been at the dealer for a week and a half and they had not touched it, I go out to the bar and my dealer is out riding... WTF... Im paying huge amounts of $$$$ to get my sled fixed, the season is only so long, and I cant ride while my dealer is out riding brand new machines... So I went and picked it up, put it on ebay and sold it with the blown motor, and went and bought an RX-1... I've never looked back. I don't mind fixing little things, but Im not rebuilding any more 2 joke motors.....

My buddy has his F6 at D&D right now because it "popped" on him on the trail about 3 weeks ago. They had it for 2 weeks before they even looked at it, now they are telling him both cylinders need re-nicasil and its gunna cost him over $2000 by the time its done.... this is a 2004 F6, its not worth putting $2000 into a sled thats that old.. Now he's screwed, His sled is blown up and he had a couple good rides planned this season... I just don't wanna go through that anymore so Im sticking with yammi, I will definately NOT buy a new one, not at those prices, but when the times comes, I'll look around and find a deal on a left over or lightly used apex... Prolly shoot for a 2010 though, not too keen on eps or EXUP but thats just my opinion...
