Hyfax saga continued!

I checked my sled over last night, Track, Oil, Belt and Sliders for the first time in 600 Miles. ALl checked well I think I could use some Carbides

mine are getting thin and i have 335 miles on it...all powder rideing so i dont think it has to do with good snow. my dad is always behind me and he doesnt smell the hyfax heating up. also my track is almost loose enoguh for the cog to spin. so very loose and i still have this problem

I went through the 3500 mile mark on the original belt and hyfax.
Shortly after that the left hyfax failed, but I have to say I have ridden in extremely poor snow conditions. The sled probably has 800 miles of marginal conditions to say the least, and the last 1200 miles had about 200 lbs on the cargo rack.
The Venture Lite has impressed me with it's durability and utilty on this last adventure.

Has anyone tryed taking a torch and heating your new slides to a glossey look, then quick throw them in the snow, to harden them, before you put them back on your sled. A guy from AK. tolded me that once.

I Installed the low snow wheels it only really helped 50% of the problem ,I have my track really loose and is wearing hyfax between my low snows and the shock shaft wheels.

Mine always wear right to the line maybe even a bit into it and then stop.I do have low sno wheels. And it makes me real nervous running them with so little left but I easily have 1500mi on them worn down like that.Yamaha decided to be different and use smaller wheels than everyone else.Thats why they wear down so far so quick.Only real fix would be to get slightly bigger wheels.Last week I rode alot of pavement looking for gas station in Algoma.Didnt hurt a thing.Did need to hit a puddle to get temp light off but no wear on slides.I also will put a plug in for the Shaper bars I run.I dont know what kind of carbide they use but it is best I have ever had.Two full seasons on mine.Yes they are dull but still there.

i put the extra wheels on it and have 3500 on the original set, theres no way that yamaha makes hy fax. unless you guys got them lol

i have replaced my slides once in 8000 miles and they are still good for the rest of this season,no bs,the first set lasted 2200 miles, when i replaced them,i pulled the strap 1 hole, now they have 6000 miles, maybe 20% good,it hasnt been an issue for me

Pat, do you have oversize wheels, low snow wheels, or using hiperfax? My problem is only the curve and its pulled up two holes.

nope, everything is stock,im kinda shocked myself that they last so long, and they are the yamaha stock slides,go figure, they are almost shot now but 6000 miles for a set of slide is a first for me

loosen the track maybe???? I run mine a lot looser than "yamaha recommended" tension with ZERO issues....no 4th wheel kit or extra wheels....

4th wheel wouldn't make a difference in the slides but if your running your track loose you would be smart to install it, cause when the track derails the side without the 4th wheel caves in first and sends the track into the tensioner ripping the windows out of it.
