Hygear Torsion spring spacers

My F7 came stock with these type of spacers, I believe my ZR had then too, I have purchased a set for my XTX, not sure why Yamaha does not use them, I am no suspension expert just spitin out some info FWIW

That's what I thought.
Makes perfect sense.
I don't want the coil spring all twistin and floppin around in there.
So I'm going with them.

My reason for installing the spacers is highly technical, but in simple terms it boils down to; I had the sled apart and 30-bucks to spend.

From a design standpoint you do want an appropriate mandrel within the ID of a torsion spring so that it responds as intended. All of the loading and dynamic response calculations are going to assume a fixed distance from the center of the spring. If that center can shift, so will the output. From a practical standpoint it probably doesn't make any real difference. But if it were my design, I would have a spacer in there because it's the right thing to do..

here's why I'm installing them...the amount the sled squats without anybody sitting on it effectively sitting into part of the stroke...seems the torsional twisting of the spring reduces its effectiveness right off the bat....sure I can max out the spring to help fight it back to a higher level.....but then that effects ride quality...

I was at Hygear this week, to pick up the spacers and my sport shock kit. I talked to Ross about this issue. He said he has never heard of any problems with spring bind with the spacers. They are surely engineered as Arteeex mentioned.

while you at it guys ...... check the front spring keeper/follower (the part that bolts to the rail and sits behind the wheel) its more than likely worn and for sure seized. It should pivot and rotoate as the spring and suspension loads.........!!!

I installed my torsion spring spacers and triple rate springs today. I hope this makes the sled handle better. The triple rates lowered the front end about 3/4" that will help some.

Let us know about the triple rate springs. I talked to Hygear on the phone and it sounds like a good project after this season is over with.
Think Snow!

Sounds like Ross has completed his final testing on XTX... Couple weeks ago he was waiting for rain to run it on his wood chip track.

I sure hope so, I have a full Trail Pro sitting here for a XTX!

the spring bind referred to is stock without the spacers...the spacers keep the spring straight and oriented properly so it wont bind!
