Ok I have been reading all the issues that have been posted and I thank those for posting. Today I went through the list. First I replaced all six exhaust bolts with hex heads and put high temp never seize, my turbo bolts have always been tight, I checked the fuel rail screws and they are tight, I removed the filter in air box and cleaned whatever oil was in there. I don't have enough miles to see any flat rollers. Did I miss anything?
So far this sled is a blast to ride. I got rid of the tuner skis and now it rides and handles awesome with very light predictable steering. I was so afraid I may have bought another Apex with this sled. I always knew the Apex was heavy and every time I rode it I was reminded. This SW I know is heavy but when I ride it it doesn't feel heavy. I have had many 1200 Doo's and always felt they were the best handling most balanced feeling 4 stroke on the market. This SW feels the same but with a better front suspension. Thank you Cat and Q3 shocks! I'm looking forward to more miles and more impressions and hoping they are positive. So far so good!

Pilot 6.9's with stock carbides outside and 6 inch Doo extremes in the center. I really disliked the Tuners. They were unpredictable with twitchy hard steering. Not familiar with the tri hub replacement?

Joe, turn the secondary and you'll see one roller will free spin. It's not touching the helix.

So, it's been said. Possible helix issues (angles not all equal.) as well as flat spots on rollers.

My rollers were perfect. But going to watch the helix market and see how that goes.

Why 6.9 and not 5.7,do you do some off trail riding? I have not mounted my 5.7,s yet, dont need skis just yet,but did have them on my 2012 cat turbo, and they worked awesome, but did dart some in certain conditions, and I had the 7.5 sharper wear bars down the middle.

how did you go about mounting the pilots. What parts were required?
You need nothing to make them work. Just turn one of the spacers in the Pilot ski around and do some minor trimming on the stock Yamaha rubbers and they bolt right in.

The 6.9's will keep the front end up in the snow and the added width just makes the front feel stable. Another nice side effect is they are wider and that makes the two carbides in the ski farther apart and less likely to follow other skis unless they too have 6.9's. I couldn't believe how my 1200 would just blast through fresh snow because the 6.9's would make the front float over instead of plowing through. I feel no negative effects when trail riding on groomed trails with them either.

Every Cat sled I have owned with the old reverse cam roller secondary was like this. One roller could spin freely with the belt on. This is due to the fact that there is not uniform pressure on the secondary clutch sheaves when fitted with a belt. This was discussed many times on the Cat forums back in the late 1990's and it is perfectly normal. I believe it is normal on the new Yamaha roller secondaries as well. Probably the old button secondaries are the same. But you can't spin the buttons so nobody cares.

I wonder if you could stick a .001" feeler gage under the old button clutches. This gap may not be new, other than it is more apparent on the roller clutches?
