Sidewinder = Viagra

I went with the 7.5's Dan. So far I like them, my steering is very responsive. I will know for sure when I get to ride in better conditions. My only concern with shapers in the past is at times they may grab and give you some ski lift or be a bit too aggressive. I haven't noticed that yet but like I said I need more saddle time. I'm sure the round bars will work just as well in most conditions also.
Hey Joe, any advice on shock package? Definitely worth paying more money for the Fox Float 3s?
I believe you have to get the blue color scheme(129 model) for top shocks?

Hey Dan,
What are you running for clutch kit? What about your clutch offset? Just curious I am running the 8JP belt wrapped 3-1, helix shimmed, hauck secondary rollers, stock clutching, and notice my clutches are fairly hot when doing some WOT runs, can only touch them for like 15 seconds. Track is a 1.6" ice cobra and seem to only be hitting 106mph, could be the conditions of the lake also. Can trail ride and clutches are only warm to the touch. Was up in south river on the weekend messing around on the lake, haven't blown a belt yet but think about it everytime I'm ripping across the lake.
curious why so soft on spring wrap? which model sled?

I would never buy a sled with the Fox floats. I have a XTX LE with the QS3 shocks and its Red/white. I don't know how the other shocks are all I know is after reading glowing reviews last year about the QS3's I wanted them and no others. I'm very impressed with how this sled rides and handles. I doubt it is only because of these shocks but if I'm spending this kind of money I'm getting the best shocks they have. The ones I have are compression only adjustable not comp and rebound. For the type of rider I am the reg QS3 shocks are just fine. I felt that these shocks were worth the extra money because I wasn't buying this sled without them.

Thanks Joe, those are the shocks I meant. I thought the were a third generation fox float shock. I'll do some more research.
I like the gray/orange but I don't think you can get that in the 129 model with the QS3s. I believe blue/white. I'll do more research.
I was following your and Dan's 1200 doo posts. Was going to build one for a while now but it looks like SW is head and shoulders above it out of the box.

I think you will like the SW. I bought mine without ever trying one and was hoping I would like it but I never thought I would like it this much. I know Dan is planning on ordering one and it looks like Knapp will be also. I'm pretty sure Doo will not be coming out with anything like it. Are you looking at possibly ordering a 18 or are you looking for a leftover. If it were me I would be getting one with the QS3 shocks for sure. I think they make a big difference.

I'm not sure yet, obviously not a whole bunch of season left now. If I can find a good deal, I may get one.
Look like those shocks may have only been available in Spring Order models.
See what happens. Thanks for your replies.

HI Dan, you would definitely recommend going with higher priced sled for the shock package?
I really like orange/gray color scheme better but would take handling and ride over color any day, lol.
Had the blue/white scheme back in the SRX days which is still pretty cool looking.
Well, to put it simply YES!.

But you and I are likely in same boat now....the LE shock package which is the top of line Qs3R( means rebound and kashima coat) is only available on the spring order ONLY "Limited Edition" models i believe. So its near impossible to go buy one of these now in season.

I cannot state for certain on how the SE(in season model) shocks would handle the massive mogul pounding I gave Toms LE on the weekend. I would assume they would have faded within the first 5 minutes of pounding/stand up riding. But the LE just sucked it all up(clicker #2) and never faded that I could feel. Really shocked myself as Ive been critical of the procross ride quality for many yrs. So its obvious to me its all about the shocks, and slightly softer seat then my 12.

The procross also has a better sit to stand transition then my XS doo, and also the seat is taller....the riser does not need to be directly vertical(like my doo XS) in order to get a nice 'scooched' ahead aggressive seating position to attack moguls.

Bottom line comes down to how hard you ride, and what type of riding....Many turbo buyers/owners are more after big trails and lakes, not so much pounding moguls...If Im gonna own a SW its gonna have those shocks front to back as this sled seems to be able to do both well.

Haha, that is not a short answer....But I will say ive been trying a ton of clutching! Dalton adjustables to HHs and lots in between!....Offset is dead nuts at 61mm(measured from back face of primary to front face of secondary-Unlike the DOO which is measured from "inside face of secondary'')

Wrapped at 6/1, Hi Torque rollers(Ben sells them now too) and still testing with stock helix, but will be trying some other angles soon.

If I hi speed run WOT back to back the sheaves will certainly get hot...but for long lake runs at 3./4 throttle at 100mph(hardpack like a highway lake) they are just barely warm and can hold hand on them. Im now running 22 tooth top gear so that is likely helping on bigger speeds with heat too, but heat was good even before the gear.

Yes, I researched the models and you are correct on the shocks.
Look like another step is the Fox Float 3 Evol RC2. Obviously no springs. If I could find an SE for a deal I may purchase those. See what happens.
I like the SE gray/orange color scheme. The LE is the old school Blue/White like an SRX which isn't too shabby, lol. Talking 129 skid. Thanks Dan.

Evol RC2 is an air shock, wont ride anywhere near what a coil will.....you are better with SE coils.

If you get the SE, and really want the LE shocks, I assume you can just go to fox and order them.

dan, i am wondering if you got rid of the lag when you switched weights. sorry if you already posted it somewhere. also curious about your helix experiences and the 22t results as i have them to install. piling up parts for the weekend, will do one at a time though and no snow. is a 35/39 on the radar? thanks

I think with this procross chassie there is very little concern of ski lift, its just so darn flat in nearly every scenario.

I do like the round bars so far, although in some soft trails Saturday there was a tad bit of push, but I did notice the 7.5 BRP round bar are worn quite down already. I guess with the heavy nose on these babies carbides dont last too long.

Dan
The reason I didn't go with the Woodys round bars is they don't have carbide wear pads on the front. They have hard weld that doesn't last worth a crap and that's where they fail. The Doo extreme round bars we have been using on our 1200's have carbide wear pads and the wear way better. The shaper bars have 2 wear bars up front and that's why the last a very long time.

I noticed this push as well Dan, and i think the shapers would be a welcome improvement. I am seeing some ski lift, but i'm trying to keep my transfer on the high side for hook up so i'm clamping down on those front coils little by little. If i can't loose the ski lift with the front coils i will let the center shock coil relax a bit more. It's real close right now and far better than the delta chassis as is, but i thinks it's going to be a real performer on the trails once it's dialed in.

Hey Dan, looks like a lot of the Snocross guys are running the air shocks so they must handle some pretty rough stuffs.
