First thing...I installed anti-ratchet drivers and have been having some "bad noise" only while braking coming down big hills. I went and clipped the rest of the windows. Same problem. Finally I get my head up under there and can see the teeth just hitting against the clips and then slipping into the windows, only on decel. Do I grind the tip of the driver tooth so it won't hit the clip? Is there a rotaion direction on these things?

Next thing.....I noticed, for the first time, quite a bit of vibration coming through the handle bars. I pulled the belt in the shop and still get it, worse at a particular rpm. It seems so be coming from the clutch or PTO side of the engine. Has anyone had trouble with the reduction gear in the engine, cause thats where it sounds like its coming from?

I HAVE A SIMILAR VIBE IN MINE-I PULLED THE PRIMARY OFF AND ITS STILL THERE- ESP AT 5-7000RPMS
THERE ARE RUBBER DAMPERS ON THE BALANCE SHAFT AND AND ROLLER BEARING THATS PRESSED ONTO IT-I BELIEVE IT TO BE SOMEWHERE IN THAT SHAFT

Kachess, did you have your anti-racthet drivers trued? I remember reading that they recommend doing this. I also recall hearing that some did have to take a little off the driver teeths but not sure of the exact amount. There was a post a while back concerning this. Maybe try the Search option and see what you find. I'm sure others who have these drivers will chime as I do not use them.

I ground off the trailing edge tip of the driver tooth, no more than 1/16 in and it seems to have totally solved the problem. I'll know for sure when I ride. I don't think I need to true the drivers because they run smooth as silk under full power climbing.

The vibration is a different story. It occurs between 3000 and 3500 rpms and I can feel it in my feet and the handlebars. I took apart the primary and it looks fine. I tend to agree with Dynarex and think it is in the gear reduction /counter shaft area. It's odd that I just started noticing it. I just removed some handlebar ends because my replacement handwarmers have a rivet at the tip and I thought maybe the harmonics changed on my bars and thats why I feel it now. Long shot.

on mine it just started all of the sudden one day
i didnt change anything-its definatly in the engine-try it without the primary on and you will still feel it-esp at 5-7000rpms

I'm beginning to question myself. I went and started up a freinds rx1 and listenned to it. The guy is the only other person I know that has one around here. His sled is a 03Mtn and has only 105 miles on it. Bought it for his wife and she hates it. Anyway, it sounds identical to mine and has the same vibration in the handlebars and floor boards around 3500. I have a feeling the whole thing has been in my imagination. I'm going riding!

I wonder if your aftermarket exhaust (especially Kachess) is resonating through the tunnel, and this is what you are feeling :?:

It's OK, that boomy resonance has allways been there. I have done several extrovert driver installs, you really should true the drivers. I have found most sets do have signifigant runout, cut the tips and true on a lathe you'll be happier.

How do you true them? Chuck them up on a lathe and turn what surfaces? The tips of the teeth? Sides of the teeth? Do they wobble?

The surface you need to true is the part that runs on the flat of the track. They need to be perfectly round and equal to each other. Take off only enough material to get you there. If either driver wobbles that is not good. You could try removing and re-pressing it on the shaft. If that doesn't help, replace it. I don't think you need to take down the extrovert teeth on a mountain machine but on the shorty you need to also machine off a minimum of 3/16" so those teeth will clear the suspension shaft -- 1/4" is probably better.
There is considerably more clip noise with my extroverts and fully clipped track. Track tension doesn't matter and it is at it's worst at slow speed when the front part of the suspension collapses over a bump. I am not sure if the increased noise then is those teeth leaving the clips when the track is more fully wrapped around the sprocket or if it is track noise on the tunnel protectors. There doesn't seem to be evidence of track rub on any metal in the tunnel though. It is a 1.25" track. Ideas on this noise?

I didn't do anything with my extroverts, just put them on. Make sure you time them, mark to mark or you'll be sorry. Mine do not vibrate.
