I had a hard time in the deep snow with XTX (pixs)

Well maybe I sould say the RipSaw Sucks....this track is HORRIBLE couln.'t get the sled over 35mph in the snow in the pix...once I pushed it over 35mph the track would just spin, dig and vibrate...HORIBLE. When the firecat lead it was fine and flew up in the 80's very fast..

As for the snow as you can see it wasn't very deep but it was all over me, hitting me in the face, look like 2 waves of snow was going over my sholders as I drove...

I agree ripsaws suck in the powder, but it shouldn't have been that slow. You'd think with that big footprint, it would eventually get up on top of the snow & GO.

I see a new track under your Christmas tree!!

If I were you, I'd ask Santa for a cobra or maybe a crossover.

I have a hard time believing it's the ripsaw. I had a ripsaw 136 on my Dragon, and while it wasn't the best track for deep snow, it's wasn't THAT bad.

I did get the Nytro stuck in the middle of a forest access road with a packed base today though. Just about blew my mind.

In my opinion is the overly aggressive clutching. Hard to take off in soft snow without spinning the track and digging in.

well the snow was sticky and wet with no base....but still the kitty had no problems with his 1" Predator track!!

I wanted better off trail performance this year and went with a 1 1/4" predator for my shorty. So far, much better off trail & in the ditches.

Let me guess - he probably rubbed it in your face too eh?

change the stock skis, it will help, the ripsaw is for trail and does suck in powder. All the riding I do is cross country.

With the front of your sled looking like that, I would say that your front end is sitting too deep in the snow. Set the transfer much higher and put on some bigger skis.

And don't worry too much about the track breaking free of the ground. What you need is some serious track speed and to throw the snow out the back like a jet-ski throws water. Once you get moving good, it should hopefully plane out -- yeah, like a boat, you want to be up on top of the snow, not bulldozing through it.

Now unfortunately, the skis that come with those XTX's are the same crap skis that come with all the shorties. They're terrible in any depth of snow and most definitely don't have the ability to float the front end up on top of the snow.

Having said that, ripjunk IS a terrible track. What you might want that would be a good balance is an arctic cat #1602-191, which is made by camoplast and matches the discontinued 9873 (15x144x1.25 predator).

The Nytro has a steeper approach angle on the track, which affects its floatation. experimanting with limiter strap, transfer and track tension settings may help you.
Lets keep this thread positive though. We don't need to start flinging the poo.. Play nicely, fellas?

my guess is that its wets snow and having a hard time push..last weekend i was playing in 1-2 feet of dry powder with my xtx and had a blast!!

lack of air?

Is it possible that there is problems with air?
Because of snow all over the front it is like choke is in use all the time?

My experience with our 'heavy' sleds and deep snow... widers ski's and play with your transfer adjustment. While wheelies are fun :) having the front lift more than normal definetly helps when things are deeper. With my Warrior and the stock 136" putting Simmons (wider) skis and a significant amount of transfer made her WAY better in the 12 - 18 inch fresh snow. Still was challenging in some areas but was like a whole different machine. Like most guys mention, I too would go with a different track. 1.5 minimum. With a paddle type design and transfer adjustments, she get up on top where she belongs! JMHO... ;)!

Stock ski's. The first thing you should change.

Couldn't agree more. Get a set of USI's (they did wonders for my shorty Apex) or Curve's, if they prove to help in the deep. Myself along with many others are trying them this year. Keep an eye for how they perform and make your choice after the new year.
