I am looking to install a 12V accessory out let on my Phazer Mountain Lite. Does anyone know if there are any 12 V leads that I could plug into, or do I have to get the kit from Yamaha.
Thanks

You can install the Yamaha kit - in the knock out on the top panel - but will only provide power when the engine is running. Otherwise, you can tie into the ignition harness (depending which wire you tap into) so you can have a power source that can be either always live or one which is on when the ignition is on without engine running. If you choose to tap into the ignition system be sure to put add an inline fuse (atc type in weather resistent holder).
I have a live feed to supply power to a gps unit - low draw so I elected to go with power always on - works great.

Is the 12V accessory feed located behind the left upper cover near the steering post and a bunch of other electrical stuff. I think I found the right one, it is the right colour according to the wiring diagram in the manual. It has a black strand and an orange strand. It has a plug on the end of it which is capped. Is this the right wire to tap into.

Well I installed a 12V plug earlier today and it works as I thought... only when the sled is running.

Why not just buy a canadian tire 12V outlet and connect it right to the battery. That's all I did, works great, $7. The 12V plugs that you plug into the outlet all have fuses built into them already.

I bought the genuine Yamaha 12v outlet here in Sweden. 116 USD for a piece of plastic with a 8" cord attached to it. Yes, the price is a bit high for sled parts in Sweden. But it works fine and was easy to install!

I bought a $30 Ski Doo outlet and it fit perfectly. I just cut off the oem connector on the sled and soldered it in with quick connects.

I also installed a Canadian Tire 12 volt outlet on the windshield bracket for my GPS. I don't have to worry about turning the handlebars and unplugging the 12 volt power adapter.

I just received this 12V accessory jacket that I won off of eBay for $4.25 plus $4.00 for shipping. I am pretty sure the connector is the same one that is on a Phazer. If not, I will just cut it off. G.B.

just remember the aux plug only has a 2.5amp/3amp fuse. I bought a marine one for a boat and installed it directly to the battery with a 10amp fuse.

I used to run both my heated shield and GPS from the 3 amp fused connections without any issues. I now power them and a water temperature guage from a dedicated power wire from a relay that is only live when the engine is running.

actually seems about right, a GPS/cellphone sucks about 8-10watts and a face shield 20-25watts so you were under the 36-40watts the fuse should take. I needed more power because I carry a small spotlight on long rides at night and that will blow a 3amp fuse after about 15 seconds of use. Just so people know, the Phazers stator only has about 40-50watts to spare @ 5000rpm so make sure you don't end up with a dead battery with too many accessories!

Installed this accessory outlet and it was a perfect fit and it works great. It even has the key way notch on the housing that matched up with the hole in top gas tank panel. So Yamaha Grizzly and Kodiak accessory outlets seem to be the same one used in Yamaha sleds. I might wire the outlet direct to my battery at the end of the season so I can keep my battery charged thru the accessory outlet so I dont have to remove the right side panel all the time to hook up the charger.

I want to install one on my 2005 Vector RS ER , can you please tell me where I can get this CA version you are talking about to hook to Battery? Thanks CharlieWell I installed a 12V plug earlier today and it works as I thought... only when the sled is running.
And dont wire it to key. It can keep solenoid activated with shield plugged in. Not good. Use the dedicated wires or go right to batt.
