- 2016 Vector XTX LE 1.75
I know on its face it seems as simple as just buying a new track of the right length and installing it. But wonder are there other considerations?
I am pretty happy with my used 2016 Vector so far. Only gripe is the track. It has a 1.75" track which would be great if I lived somewhere with more snow. I however live in southern Ontario and right off a lake so run a lot of ice and groomed trails.
I am thinking I might prefer a 1.5" so I can stud it for better control on the lakes.
Or is it possible to install 1.875" . Woody's site says machine can't be studded?

I would not stud a 1.75 track, you could shave it down or get another track to stud.

Is it as simple as just getting a replacement 1.5" track? Do I need t change anything else along with it?

Basically yes, and 1.5 ice storm would be a great vector track. The problem you are going to have to find correct length for your 2016 Vector. Track lengths could be a problem with the lug height you want.

On a 1/4 inch i’d just use something for a jig, grab a sharp knife and some lube, and make it shorter.

well as you have an xtx, it is a 15" x 146" x 2.86 pitch track.
royal shows a 1.38" lug and 1.5" lug track in composit, witch has no pre studded option. they also show camso 2 ice cobra with the pre moulded studs in 1.6" lug, 1.5" lug storm and 1.5" lug ice storm. suprisingly not seeing an 1.25" lug track at all in the book as that is what my 16 apex xtx has.
the backcountry 1.75 you have is pretty desireable for off trail guys so you might be better off selling it instead of cutting it down. some tracks do not get better when they get cut down, been there done that.
