I've changed my mind, and why.

4fighter,

I just sat on an Apex and a Nytro 2 nights ago and the ergos are almost identical. The Nytro is built on the RX1 chassis, same tank, same cowl, just higher seat and forward bars. They feel and look the same to me. No need to move onto the filler neck on an RX1. By the way, the filler neck is in the same location on the Apex as it is on the RX1! Bars and pod are moved forward, but the tank is in the same place. By the way, have you ridden an Apex and RX1 modified as I described? Keep the feedback coming guys, this is useful information for all of us!

I have an RX1 and logged quite few miles on the Apex...I dont think just the seat and bars is going to do it...I think you will have to change the front to the Vector to get it close to that same feel.

So lets change to the Vector front end, or have our spindles cut down. Still cheaper then a new sled. Keep it coming!!

Red, You are on the right track.....I think you could make the RX like the Nytro and instead of the Vector Front end I would add a 44 inch kit to the RX-1. I sat on both the Apex and Nytro and you can really tell the differance between the two if you sit with your feet in the sturups then stand up.....on the Nytro the bars are in your lap but on the Apex you still have some room to move ;)!

Oh, I got ya. I didn't do that. I see how it would matter in the rough stuff. I did notice that the Nytro bars could easily be moved ahead more then they are. Maybe not to the extent the Apex could be, but certainly closer then an RX1. Someone must have a modded RX1 and also ridden the Apex. I'd love to see how they compare. I still think we can do it guys. Don't give up on the RX1 yet! It makes so much sense to keep them if we can get them close. I own mine, only got 2000 miles on it, its broken in, already fixed all the bugs, and I know exactly what a great sled it is and can become. There is something to be said about tried and true!!

Indy -

Just glad to see you're going to stay riding more so than just the decision to keep the 03.

Let me know when you come up this way again, at least the TY rides

I am also thinking of a Rage instead.
I used to think mine was pretty good until Kevin Impala convinced me that a Rage was for Girlymen.

Regardless of the sled you choose, I'm just glad to see you're staying in the sport and I look forward to riding with you again. ;)!

Glad to see your staying Indy. Hope to ride with you again. I do not blame you for keeping your sled another year, yours runs and handles great. They get better every year and you can look forward to the 07 Model year. Have a great summer Indy! :4STroke:

i was going to get an 06 Vector Mountain SE since i wouldnt have the money to snowcheck an Apex Mountain, but ill wait until 07 and get 2 apex Mountains

I have the 45" Pioneer a-arms on my 05 and I just installed the optional spring for my weight.

I have been studying and comparing the Nitro, Apex, and my 05 RX1. It looks like a couple of inches of foam in the seat and an articulating riser and the 05 will be all set. It would be nice to measure up the nitro so that Yamies engineering efforts can just be duplicated.

Ive decided to keep mine and start updating my 3 Vmaxes 1 by 1 over the next few years to end up with all 4 strokes. My girls are intimidated by the RX power, hopefully they come up with another smaller model for 07. Normally I hand mine down, but it's too strong for them. I hope I can get the handling dialed in and the monoshock durability problems taken care of as I will be riding this for a few years.

I haven't changed my mind, I keeping my 03 RX1. It's got 5000 miles on, looks better than the day I picked it up! I'm not caving into the marketing hype. For my type of riding, mostly trail touring, my 03 with some mods like an expert-X skid will be perfect for MANY years. With the warm winters we've been having I just can't justify buying a new sled. I know plenty of people who cave in under the pressure of the marketing hype every year. They spend thousands every year and put less than 1000 miles on the sled before they trade it in. Up to the time I bought my RX1, i was getting 4-6 years between sleds purchases.

Yeah, that damn Impalaflower saying the vector is a chick sled LOL :?

My dealer will take my vector and give me an Apex ER for $2480

I gotta do it. All I can say is he must have a lot of CHICK customers wanting year old vectors :D

Tom gave me a chance to demo ride and I am hooked. :drink:

LMAO Tork, If you remember, the girls at the bar we had pictures with. I told them the Apex's were not a girly-man's machine, and the Vector wasn't either. I told them that the fusion 900 would be for them, slow, nice colors, and they could handle the power. But the Yamahas are a big man's machine, and their eyse opened up! They were stuck on me like glue.

I would post it, I should post it, What do you think?

I think the other guys would get too jealous, or drool on their computer screens. I don't want that to happen, do I?

Indy, Glad your staying with the sport, and I took the advice, and got an Attak coming.

O.K. if you don't believe me, here is the proof guys!

Hate to break it to you Terry but it was your sweatshirt that caused the attraction. It's a little known (until now) secret that RR sweatshirts are treated with a special pheromone that has been proven to generate this and other interesting types of behavior.
