all i can say is this is total bullsh!t

i bent my subframe and the ONLY impact i could think of was at about 12mph going into a rutted up left hand turn i felt a slight grab on the right ski.

im not exaggerating on my speed either im talking about just above engagement speed.

now the ? is do i even try to get this replaced at the dealer?

my local dealer IN CT we dont get snow , said to bring it up north that they are swamped and would probably not be successful in replacing it under warranty.

i tryed to bend it back with a pry bar but i dont like the way it feels and feel like i will bend the upper control arm before the bottom moves.(i feel i may have better luck cutting the bottom plate then bending it then welding it up)

i either have to cut up and straighten the stock one and reinforce, or ask on this board whose been successful getting a 09 subframe replaced and where the dealer was. im so bummed out i love the sled and cannot believe that i didnt even get warmed up riding and on some bullshit tug hill loop i just trashed a $500 part and didnt even know it until i was cleaning the sled.

any help would be awesome

btw thats after bending it back a bit but it feels like it wont go any further and i offiacially need to install my oilite bushing kit now because i think my pring really broke the stock plastic bushing on my upper control arm.

Chain to a tree behind it from top spindle.
Come-along to your truck or another tree at the bottle of spindle. Start cranking....

Get it back inline and remove.
There is a person names grizzletracks or something like they that sells a welding kit upgrade for the subframe.

Have it welded on.

Not perfect but less then a new one.

I had to replace mine too. Was loading my sled in the trailer, got stupid, ramped if off the snow bank in my yard and it came down on the side a bit and that was it.

Side impact at any speed and yet done.

not sure about chaining to top spindle, what i did on mine was loop around lower a arm by ball joint with something that wont scratch ( looped ratchet strap) then chain to tree, get some slack, put in reverse and give some yanks, little violent but worked, it did bend again real easy , so i bent back again and pulled subframe and made my own gussets, after 200 miles and one creek crossing which hit hard , its 1/8" out again from where it was

Is the plate in the middle bent at all ...Im asking because i bent my upper arm . i was thinkin it was the subframe too .....they bend easy ..

I did the subframe gussets from grizztracks as well worked great. I added another gusset further back as well not sure if it will do anything but it is easy to do and I haven't had a issue yet. Tig weld would be the cleanest but I MIG welded mine and came out great too. It is really not that hard to do just the time.

so where are you guys taking measurements from to be sure your back inline before welding it back up?

im afraid of doing more damage in the straightening process, but im leaning towards straightening and strengthening the subframe i already have rather than buying a new one to strengthen the only thing that bothers me is getting it back to near perfect and how to do it without bending a arms or anything else...

to go along with the project ahead i have a roest skid plate and oilite bushings

Mattyg I have a 09 MTX and I had mine bend a couple years back. It was the same way I couldn't remember when I did it. I had a dealer here in MN fight my case for me, along with that was an inspection by the dealer for an impact. They couldn't find anything. Yamaha said NO, I didn't take that as an answer as I made several calls to Yamaha telling them how upset I was and how the dealer agrees with me. They said they didn't have a problem with the subframe that they knew of, that is when I showed them for three straight years they changed and strengthened it. No Problem? All in all we settled on me paying about $100 to the dealer and I installed it. I added some extra metal, but If I would have seen Grizz kit I would have done that. Nice and clean and price is reasonable. If you and your dealer are determined you can get some help

dose this happen on all the nytros or just the 08's

lm7800 Some people have made it on 08 without bending them, that being said I believe 2010 and later are the strongest as Yamaha improved them several times. If you have a nytro I would look into adding an extra plate. Cheap insurance for a $450 part
