Jumped Ship, But It's been a great ride!!

I agree with the good competition. Im by no means a brand loyalist. This ski-doo intrigued me, so im trying it out. Plain and simple. I def loved my Apex though, it was a beast, fast as hell, reliable, and top notch fit and finish.

I just bought a Renegade XP 600 e-tec as my patrol sled. I went for a maiden 200km ride on Sunday. I do say it feels very nimble and agile. I am happy with it. I am not saying I am selling my Yamahas. It is just different.

BRRRRR. that thing looks COLD... Let us know if the windshield and deflectors help. With my exhaust issues I might consider an '10 600 E-tec in 2011

Did I say anything about guns being big enough? Please read the posts before chiming in. Never once did I say Im hoping that this new machine will be the fastest on the lake and thats why im buying it. In fact, this is my first snowmobile purchase where speed was NOT the issue. Rather lightness and handling. I LOVED the apex's speed, best motor out there in my opinion. That was not the issue.

Thanks for coming out

Let us know if the "lightness" makes it handle better. Seen alot of them go right off the trail because of handling issues. Be safe!

I am no fan of light sleds with our trails and conditions. As soon as the hedgerows is cleared, is flat stick...90 per or whatever we can get, and hitting some (hopefully) small imperfections in big farm fields never bothered the big Machz's or the rx's or apexs. We argue this stability thing all the time at work, but the arguees won't ride with us..LOL. Hey, whatever floats yer boat is fine. I like the front ends down....especially since I paid good money for my curve skis...sure don't want em in the air...!!
Glad you like it nonetheless...winter can be long on a sled you hate or have in the shop all the time..just ask my Cat friends...LOL.

can't see the 800 dragon beatin the apex up top.. highly doubt it

Oh, here we go again. It really doesn't matter if an Apex will do 110MPH and a D8 or 800 R will only do 109MPH...who really cares.

Not to bash but...how do you figure the Apex will be faster? Same track, same gear ratio, same Horsepower etc. Aerodynamics??? Give me a break. Even when i had my Apex I couldn't figure out why guys think that it is such a "top end" sled.

P.S. I ran with two of my buddies Apex's and an 800R on a 1 mile long stretch on a lake with almost no snow and all sleds including an 800R were vitually identical...so, nice try.

As someone else said above...each sled has it's pros and cons. You have to ride what fits your style and deal with what shortcomings your sled has. Personally, I would love to have the Dragon Chassis with the 800R motor. Not for power but for fuel consumption. Hell, the 800R gets better mileage than the Apex....just have to ad that expensive and stinky 2 smoke oil :(

+1 I agree,We have had good luck with my wife's 08 XP. I think it makes a good womens sled
Now that's funny... I guess the Dragon falls under that section too? :-o

stoutner, vote4pedro is a newbie to the apex and to snowmobiling in general i believe. i dont think he's had the chance to really ride much else like we have.

pedro. these are all fast sleds. many of us will never see the top end on our sleds safely. if you try in my area your gonna get hurt or hurt somebody else. ive only seen 108 on the dreamo and i was pushing the safety factor and ran out of room.

can you smell the 2 stroke exhust while riding behind these new Etecs, etc ? I notice that more now that I'm riding 4stroke I can smell the Doo's riding by me or in front of me for a while in my helmet. Don't know if it's the new one's or old 2strokes.

Im not an owner of a 4 stroke yet ! But im sold on them ! I not brand loyal but from what i see up in Quebec the yamaha's retain their value and many have 2006's have well over 10,000km's and still run like a charm.
I like the new brp line and think they have everything inline to make a great sled but the engines still dont hold up ! Why would you pay $12000 for a machine that blows up after 5000 km ? Ive seen so many 2005's 2006's 2007's for sale with adds saying engine rubuilt ect..
Just my 2 cents !
