Hi, My name is jay, this is my 1st post here. I had a 04 Skidoo MXZ until yesterday. It was getting up there in miles so i decided to unload it and found a great deal on a 2007 Phazer. I was pretty impressed, it stood the skis up and was a rocket out of the hole. It's got a camoplast 1.5 inch track on it. Since I have only had skidoos for a long time I know nothing about 4-stroke yamahas. This place has a ton of information, it's just hard to find it all.

My sled has 1800 miles on it. The owner said he changed the oil once but didn't change the filter. I understand it's a huge pain in the #*$&@ to get at the filter. Once you tear into the sled that deep do you need a special wrench to get the filter off? Is it generally easier just to take it to the dealer, if so what's an average cost for an oil change?

Where there any recalls or updates on the 07. The rear opening on the tunnel has been closed off. The front on is still open. I understand newer phazers now have a fan on the back of the radiator, is this something i should look into?

The sled turns like #*$&@, i knew this going in. What is a good replacement for skis. Does it have to be aftermarket or has anyone tried skis from other mfgrs stock sleds?

I am looking for some parts. The original owner took the front bumper off, he didn't like the look and has misplaced it in his vast messy shop. I am also looking for the strap that bolts to the tunnel and holds the toolbox in place. Somehow i managed to lose one of the push pins on the panel that covers the air filter, i would like to find on of those.

The rear idler wheels seem to have a little side to side slop. Are the bearing able to be replaced in those? Is it worth going to some aftermarket wheels?

How big of a pain in the #*$&@ is it to add reverse to a phazer, i would assume it's a whole new chaincase, can it be done? I was spoiled by my RER that spun the engine up backwards to reverse.

I know this is a lot so thanks to anyone that wants to contribute.

Big pain to add reverse! It atached to the secondry jackshaft. Easy once everything is apart. I got everything if someone wants to add reverse.

Classifieds have some Phazer parts. If you call a dealer with the serial # they can tell you if the updates are done, ie cold start kit, tie rod ends. My Fx on trail rides needs fan also,I think mtn and gt came with fans. ;)!

The sled turns like poop, i knew this going in. What is a good replacement for skis. Does it have to be aftermarket or has anyone tried skis from other mfgrs stock sleds?

The oil is not that bad to change. You don’t need a special wrench to get the filter off. You can use an oil filter wrench or channel locks. Here is a Link for you to change the oil. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=64045

There are recalls on the 07 phazers. It sounds like you have the base modle phazer. I know the FX, GT and the MTX have all different recalls. I don’t know about the recalls on the base modle. Here are the recalls on the GT throu Joint connector, hinge rivet k, idler arm nut kit, ecu kit, cold start kit and ball joint. If you do end up closing the hole in the front of the tunnel you need to rap your pipe so nothing caches on fire. The only time you over heat without the radiator fan is when you are really going slow like into town.

I have the mount. skis on my phazer Mnt. Light they are ok. If I where you I would just put aftermarket skis on like curve, sly dog, or C&A's but I have heard that curve and sly dog skis are awesome on phazers. I had C&A on my old 07 phazer GT and I like them.

For all the stuff you are missing I might now 2 guys on this site that might they are both parting out their sleds. I will PM them your user name for you.

I am not sure how hard it will be to add reverse

I hope this helps you
;)!

Thanks... great link. It doesn't look to bad as long as the filter wants to come off.
K&N makes a filter that has a 17mm nut welded to it makes it way easy to change and is a better filter IMO! Go to their web site and it will tell you part number I can't remember off the top of my head!

Thanks, I saw it mentioned in another thread. It didn't need to be changed for 12,000 miles. I probably would never hit that mark

thats IF its been changed at the 500 mile mark, if it hasn't it needs to be done ASAP.

i have a stock front bumper i will sell for $40 shiped if you want it? let me know thanks

i got 2 rear wheels, and the tool box with a strap, i run slydog ski's with 6" studboy shaper bars.. u got to lean alot to get the thing to rail a corner, ride it like a 4 wheeler that u just stole.. its not a cruzing sled. change that filter asap, get a k&n147 it has a nut welded to the end easy to get off. once you get the hang of it it goes quick. i can do an oil and sparkplug change in a little over an hour.. we should hook up, there is a group of us phazer owners that go and ride the tug hill, its an all phazer ride. oh and the people look like what the heck.. its funny.. Excell motorsport in hubbardsville has some good add ons. get the fan up date too.. i would have sold you my girls phazer with ulmer clutch, excell exhaust, freeride track, cold air intake, 1200mi all updates done and a bumper to bumper warranty till dec 2012.. looking to get $4500ish. thinking about giving her mine and buying a nytro.

Thanks Rig. I like the all Phazer ride idea.

I got the tool box, just need that stupid strap piece that bolts to the tunnel.
The problem is a doubt anyone wants to break up the set.

How much of a speed gain did you get out of the clutch/intake/exhaust?
Was it much louder, not a fan of can's on 2 strokes for trail riding, have yet to hear a piped 4 stroke.

"Was it much louder, not a fan of can's on 2 strokes for trail riding, have yet to hear a piped 4 stroke." the excell is pretty loud i had one on mine last year, had to go back to stock. it sounds like any 4wheeler or dirtbike piped
