Keeping a short track from overheating

couple hand fulls of snow in the radiator hole always worked for me..pack it in there..

Another thing to check is to make sure the fan is pulling air from the front to back and not in reverse. Just came across one that was reversed.

You nailed it Mooseman, it blows the air forward, instead of pulling it through. The previous owner did it himself, I have no idea if it is a Yamaha kit or not. It is a panasonic fan. Should I physically turn the fan around? I assume the fan wont blow in either direction by reversing the wiring...long time since I played with fans.

Thanks

Yeah, just switch the wires around. The previous owner of my son's FX had the same problem. Instead of fixing the fan, he drilled extra holes in the plastic lower in front of the radiator. Not a bad idea actually. I might just cut the plastic all the way so the whole radiator gets more air and make my own grill. Found some nice thrash cans made of black wire mesh at the dollar store which would work nicely.

I cut a hole in the plastic in front of the rad (actually 2 - 1.5" holes) and installed a Frogskins. Works great.

Cubby,

How has your Frogskinz held up to field stubble and brush? Just wondering if it will get torn... Looks nice and functional though

So far so good - no rips or tears. I was thinking of putting something in front for protection but haven't needed it.
