Hey all

I often pull my kids on their GT's with my 07FX 121. I have the rad fan.

I get a temp light almost everytime we do this, so we just dont go for long pull rides.

Since we dont have all the heat exchangers like most sleds, are scratchers even going to help? I have a set but haven't had a chance to put them on.

Thanks for any input. Been a long summer...

Are you getting the slush buildup on the heater exchanger? That prevents proper cooling. If you are not getting enough snow on the heat exchanger the scratchers will help.

Have you checked that the fan is working? I put a led on the fan so I know when it is running.

If the fan is working, I would say that it is the heat exhcanger icing over. The only way to fix that is a taller lug track. 1.25" or larger. G.B.

I have an 1.5" lug track. This is very low speed cruising for obvious reasons haha

I have a pack of frogzskins I haven't put on, I could start there I guess.

And yes fan works, it is loud enough that you can hear it running.

Have you checked coolant level?

Yes coolant level is good. I think it's just the low speed/ lack of airflow on the rad. Not exactly the right sled or clutching for the job, just curious if anyone else had a fix. I'll try the frogzskins, then the scratchers after that and see if it helps.

thanks for the input guys

Mine will sit and idle forever without the temp. light coming on. It seems the fan does its job. Not sure why your sled is over heating.

You could add some Water Wetter or other temperature reducing product. It could also be the coolant itself. The stuff that Yamaha uses is too strong, not enough water, if at all. Refill with 60/40 coolant/water and add 1/2 a bottle of Water Wetter.

Adding an LED will let you know that the fan has kicked in and if it doesn't go out, it will eventually overheat.

another option if you want is the radiator screen guard. i forget who all makes it but i think you cut out the plastic in front of the rad., which can improve surface cooling area.

I have a Frogzkins in front of the radiator to provide more air flow to the whole radiator. With the fan and the Frogskinz in various places I have never seen the temp light. I also have a water temp gauge to let me know if the slush is building up. I have the 1.5" Freeride track being installed as we speak.

I agree with Mooseman, the Yamaha factory coolant mixture appears to have little water. You might try replacing the coolant with a fresh 60/40 mixture.

Another thing to check is to make sure the fan is pulling air from the front to back and not in reverse. Just came across one that was reversed.
