When I pulled the chain case the chain was completely stretched out. This is common in boosted sleds so I always keep a spare. This is what a stretched chain looks like:

That is hanging in the air and it should look like this:

I also got a chance to do some more diagnosing on the turbo. I removed the intake and exhaust so basically just a turbo with nothing attached. As soon as I started it oil and air started pushing out the intake! Which I thought was weird as I was expecting it to suck air. I go up to the vortec BOV and it’s not releasing ANY air which I am used to seeing. I look at the adjustment and it seems like it’s WAY to tight meaning it won’t open without more vacuum. I referenced some old pictures on this site and feel confident I can let it out. The beauty of this BOV is it only takes 1.5” of vacuum to open but when you adjust it down it may take 5-8” to open. So I loosen it and air starts flowing. Back at the turbo it’s no longer pushing oil out into the intake (the actual intake that should only be sucking air) and the turbo stops smoking?!!!?

Here is the valve you can see the rusty part of the threads are what I let out.

I have a new CHRA in the box ready to swap but I’ll cold start tomorrow and see if this fixed it.

Back to work.......

Track is done! Just under two hours. My zx2 just slid right in on my old track but this new track fought it. I had to loosen the rear axle all they way then use a 4x4 under the skid in different spots to get it bolted back in. She’s in!! I may sneak out in afternoon and make a test run on the lake before I button it up for the trip.

damn. that sucks. enough of it salvageable to get your other sled back together?

Hope you are OK Kinger. You can always build another beast of a sled. G.B.

I’ll try to get some pictures up. It appears Tapatalk isn’t agreeing with a update or something on the boards.

I’m banged up pretty good, I actually hurt worse yesterday then right after the hit. Nothing broken or permanent though.

Painful to see the sled.

Not sure where to go from here.

Well this is painful...

Amazingly the bulkhead is FINE, that bent fox float is just the shocks. The A arms failed and left the bulkhead in tact. They were MPI lightweight ones.

Spindle rammed into the clutch stopping the engine instantly

Crinkled tunnel...

WOW! Is that the clutch weight sticking out near the front of the primary??
I know it hurts to look at all the damage but just think of all the energy that the sled absorbed. All that carnage probably saved your life.

Yes that is a clutch weight sticking out. The spider is broke inside. If that tunnel crinkle wasn't there I could repair it in like 2 hours. Bulkhead is fine. The hood survived even (My fancy CR racing hood).

Happy to be walking but its like losing a faithful pet :(

Wow Kinger, that was a good hit. Trying to figure out how it wrinkled the tunnel? G.B.

ouch. looks like the lightweight front caved and ripped on a ski hit. had similar happen on sx sled 10-15 years ago. that is why i only run stock lower arms/bars as they can take a better hit.

glad you are ok. always eayer to build another one.
