I also have a excel exhaust I may install this winter yet, if I get time. Its not a priority this year and would make for a nice little project next summer.

HEHE you're done, tell me about it, it never ends. I knew you weren't done hahaha excel and gauge pod. When you get them I know what is going to happen, been there done that LOL
Glad you are ready to ride buddy
BTW your sled looks way cool
I'm pretty happy with my ZX-2 and Fox Floats up front, won't change my suspension much if any.
For now I'm working on finetuning my carb setup. I have one more adjustment to do and then I'm done with the carbs - I hope - LOL.
When the carbs done I will turn my attention to my last objective of tuning this season, the clutching. I'm running 200 rpms over target and with the jetting nailed it may even rise some. Now it runs 10600 rpms WOT, gotta get it down to 10400 rpms. Midrange goes close to 11000 so I have to add some to the center of my SuperTips.

Kinger, nice work. I too do almost all of my wrenching. I noticed in the picture below that your a arms are at an upward angle towards the engine. I am not sure with the shocks your running (I run ohlins), but you may want to reduce the preload on the front shocks until the a arms are level or almost level. It will have even less ski lift and corner much better. I have worked my 03 suspension so much, that I almost don't care any more. OH, I do have a 136 M10 under mine also.

rxrider - Yeah after pulling the engine TWICE, and all the diagnosing I have been doing, the gauge pod and exhaust I don't even count them as "work" LOL
INDY - Thanks for the tip I tried to do that, in that pict the preload is actually set to ZERO, when I lift the front the of sled it actually lets the spring loose! I think the ZX2 add so much travel it raises the whole sled up. I also have all apex front end with different geometry so maybe that had something to do with it as well. She was very tippy with it set like that, so I added 6 turns on the springs and she handles MUCH better now but still a little tippy when on the gas, the ZX2 transfers like a mutha!!

Do not run your sled with that little preload. What could happen when you extend your front suspension on a jump, the spring retainer could drop out. If you run less than 0 preload on the front springs here's what to do. Drill 2 small holes at both sides of the opening, reinstall the retainer, use a thin steel wire and thread it thru the holes, secure the wire from slipping out. Now the retainer cannot go anywhere when you fully extend your front suspension. I learnt this trick from a dragracer I know, he did this to be able to run less than 0 preload in his SRX to keep the frontend of his sled as close to the ground as possible for a perfect holeshot.

Great tip!! I already upped my preload by 6 turns and it handles much better now, but if i wanted to run it loose that is a perfect way to do it safely!

Yes very cool, everything ran as it should I was a happy man. I enjoyed my clickers up front to, when we got there we never saw a bump for the forst 150 miles, I was disappointed because I wanted to test the skid! LOL So I cranked up the stiffness and she railed around the corners real nice. Then by the end of the weekend it was beat up and I softened them up to soak up the bumps better. Overall its a great sled now, I have everything I want, it rides great, runs great, and I hit 110mph off the bottle and am waiting just a few more hundred miles for the first bottle run. Going to lower the shot to something more sane, 80 on a NX kit is like a 110 or so, I'm going to a 40 which is like 55ish. That is plenty and I will get more life out of the bottle. Its soooooo nice having this baby run correctly!

Put on another 700 miles so I am over 1000 for the year, sled runs great, skid rules, apex front end clicker shocks are awesome, the apex seat is still my favorite mod. We just did a back pack trip and I was worried it would leave me stranded but she did great. I think its back to yamaha quality standards now and I feel confident taking it on any trips. This is a good feeling.
The only issues I am going to work out is the ergonomics of turning to the right with the bar risor it bends my wrist funny and makes it real hard to take say a 120 degree right hand corner in the woods at 30mph.
We did a all time high of 310 miles in one day and thank god i had this sled if I was still on my viper I would have died going that far. Never again but it was fun once and the only thing that hurt was my neck from holding up my helmet 3 days in a row!

Glad she's running like a champ, the new suspension parts and seat did work wonders I believe
BTW - I love my turbo sled, have about the same mods as your when it comes to suspension and seat
