Correct. Any black or brown on your secondary? If so scuff and put new belt on.

Check your secondary, it almost sounds like the spring is not in place hard stopping, (coil binding) and not allowing it to open all the way.
With an 8DN being about 7 mm longer than 8JP the secondary does not have to open as far for the primary to reach full close so machining of the secondary is irrelevant.
Wife's sled consistently pulls 155 K and runs the belt up to about 7 or 8 mm. from the top of the primary at 8900 RPM.
My wife's 2014 XTX is stock other than WPW spring to lower engagement, and rivet position and weight changed to my liking, and is finally done break in, it has 2300 K.

Or maybe the spring just wont let secondary shift.

When I'm back home I'm going to swap belts back to the 8jp belt and see what the difference is and shim my secondary to raise my deflection ( it's fine now just to say flush but want it 1.5mm abov). The secondary spring was having an issue with sticking open when I was installing the clutch kit but it was only because I didn't rotate the helix clockwise and set the teeth in the appropriate spot. Called Allen and he explained how to set it properly and it seemed to be fine now with no bindingCheck your secondary, it almost sounds like the spring is not in place hard stopping, (coil binding) and not allowing it to open all the way.

What's your tip weight??? Had this issue with mine when I started trying to figure out clutching... Wasn't enough tip weight to fully shift out

Cool. Why keep changing belts? Stick with one belt.

And what have you checked On your machine to verify that there isn't a problem or a reason it's doing 85?

Well other than asking the dealer to tear it down, the basics, belt track tension, ski ali and he test drove it no codes or anything. Plus i have 2 of them! they both go the same speed so i dont think its the sled. And what have you checked On your machine to verify that there isn't a problem or a reason it's doing 85?
