Viper Top Speed

I was running my Viper on Lake Vernon (West end of the lake). We cut test holes every 500 feet and had 5.5 - 6". My last pull of the day I saw 102 mph. ( on speedo) I only have 55 miles on the sled so I expect it will get a bit faster. I would like to add boost to my sled, but $4000 -$5000 is a lot of cabbage. How reliable are these sleds after boost. I do a lot of Trail riding so reliability is important. Looking at supercharger over turbo. Any thoughts?

I do not know of a supercharger yet for the viper. I think there is a challenge for getting it to fit under the bodywork and access to a drive location for the belt.

All 4 or 5 manufacturers are presenting turbo kits

See guys I knew this sled even stock would break 100 mph gps,and you guys were all worried, its the yammie clutching.

I am a fan of the Yamaha clutches myself. Recently I read a report saying the early testers thought the Cat 7000 had more aggressive clutching.....maybe just in acelleration though.

I know everyone doesn't cares about top speed but for all those speed junkies out there here is what happened with the viper.

Conditions were near perfect with a dusting of snow on the lake and no wind. I had about 45 miles on the sled before I decided to do this and it is stock with 144 studs. I was running about 0.6 miles and got 107 mph multiple times with a GPS. The speedo is right on...it was reading 107 as well. Rpms at this speed were around 9000, so with a little clutching there shouldn't be a problem getting it over 110 in the same conditions.

To compare I pulled the 2013 apex(Stock with 2500 kms) out and it ran 118 mph (GPS). Right on what it was doing last year.

There is a guy on the lake that had a 2013 ski-doo 1200 with a header and clutching and he ran 113 mpg(GPS) in similar conditions last year. I think with a few mods on the viper you shouldn't worry about the 1200.

I am heading to Hurricane Performance to get the turbo installed Wednesday so I wanted to get some base numbers before it was installed. I will post some #'s after it's installed.
Now is the rtx a shortie like a 129" track or is it a 137" reason i ask is the shortie may be geared taller than a longer sled, just wondering if you are considering gearing up with your new turbo power you are about to install.

Just got the turbo installed today. Its a RTX 129". Dave said the RTX and LTX are the same gearing but the XTX is lower. I am going to do some testing this weekend to see what kind of numbers it will run. Dave said the taller gears are not available yet so until then I guess I am stuck with the stock gearing. I want this this thing to run over 120 mph so yes I will be gearing up when the gears are available

Which stage turbo did you get, stage 1 190 hp or stage 2 250 plus, either one will put a smile on your face, but one will be better off with stock gears the other I would change for sure.

It's a stage 1 190 hp. Do a lot of trail riding so looking for a little reliability and can use pumped gas. I had it out last night and it pulls really hard. Dave set me up with his clutching and with the short run I did it doesn't seem like its going to run out of gear. Didn't take long to hit 95 mph

Anyone know where a man could get a taller gear for this sled if needed??

gears are not available yet but I found a guy who cuts gears for tractor pulling an he can order blanks and cut any pattern we want.

Let me know...

I just read the XTX gearing is different, does anyone know the gearing ratio of all the Vipers? I will need gearing later on for asphalt racing. Turbo to come this spring also.
