My first ride on my 17 redone sled from last years crash. My buddy just got the rx1 cleaned up,pilots were plugged solid, and his clutches are not the best, but good enough to beat me bad,his is an 05 rx1 bender boosted turbo 12lbs on full kill ave gas assisted, runs 1" rip lightely studded, but hook up is insane,he ran 138 on his speedo, and we know they are at least 10 mph high,so he may of been running 125 in crappy conditions, best speedo on mine was 115 no gps. OK mine is now clutched way to high rpm wise, banging off the limiter at 9660 on recall, and after spinning for a few hundred feet it settled down to 9500 and to as low as 9350,my stage 4 Evo tune calls for 9150-9400 not sure 9400 works on my sled, seemed to struggle to hit 115,on hard ice with clumpy snow,so you could feel it slow and speed up. Ok my clutching was orange tpi primary, and orange tpi secondary at 60 degrees, weights are stm supertips loaded to 80 grms, and stock 35 helix. So after that combo ran to high,i tried Dalton blue/blk 53/133 compared to tpi orange 35/147,still overred same 9600 plus to 9500 after shift. My kit last year from allen ulmer,s stage 2 was pink/blk primary 30/90 rate, same weights 80 grms, and stm 38 helix, with a red secondary spring with offset tabs,so clocking was at 10 degrees, but we got it messed up,and had it set to 30 degrees, and it slipped out of pocket hole, and did funky stuff. So I wanted to try a secondary spring that was made for Yamaha type helix, the tough guy spring is a very strong spring, had a very tough time clocking it to 60 degrees. So my next move now is retry allens pink primary, with 35 stock and orange secondary, see if I can get rpms down,if that don't work, try the 38 with toughguy spring, and pink front. Any ideas, bring them on guys.
Well a 12 pound RX1 will have some balls to be sure. But, if I'm reading this right are you saying your pulling 9600 RPM? If so, you are way over reving. 8900-9000 is the number, and that explains why your getting beat. That and if your spinning a few hundred feet and he's hooking, clearly you need better and or more studs. Playing catchup with a 12 pound RX1 isn't going to be easy so work on that dig issue.

Keep adding weight to those arms. 9600 is way too high.

Yes,he does eat me on a dig,but even on a rool on,and I get the jump,he runs me down, and blows by. Now I have the same set up you have bluebyyou, and there site states 9150 to 9400,now both you and terry (nos-pro) say 9000-9100 is where I should be. Now did you get the stm 38 helix and allens red secondary spring, last year? Along with his pink primary with stm supertips at 80 grms loaded?I'm sure that really helps him. Great input.

You ran a softer primary spring last year with a steeper helix. This year you have went to a lot stiffer finish rate primary spring and a shallower helix. You need to throw some weight at it and get those rpms down where they need to be.

Yes agreeded, that was what I had in mind, was first red soft spring, with everything else the way it was, than if that did not help, run the 38 with orange spring and pink soft primary spring, before loading to much more to weights. But before I go to far bluebyyou has same set up,so I will speak to him first, and see what he thinks, than we can move on if need be. thanksYou ran a softer primary spring last year with a steeper helix. PM'ed you
Agree....9,600 is way too high. Possibility of slipping belt and hitting rev limiter.
