im looking to put ice scratchers on my 06 attak to help fix the overheating problem i had last year. i've replaced the coolant and added watter wetter, and am going to install the marginal snow wheel kit. my question is which ice scratchers work best, do they help at all, and what is the process for installing them. thanks

Do you have reverse- think about the cable type. None of them are hard to do- except for drilling your hole in the skid and praying you haven't measured wrong. Measure twice and drill once!!

I'm also considering ice scratchers. Tom Hartmann has a set that looks good. They mount to the ski spindles.

Just my $.02 as i have tried both ski mounted scratchers and skid mounted ones..... The ski scratchers are ok, but the spray they kick up does not hit the skid very well to lubricate the hyfax. I have had better success with skid mounted scratchers -- although I'll admit I was suprised this turned out to be the case. Intuitively, it seemed the ski scratchers would be better because the sled is moving forward.....
But the skid mounted ones just work better to lubricate the heat exchangers, and especially the skid/hyfax. On my Mnt Viper, I have both installed (ski scratchers did not work well enough so i later had to add skid mounted ones)...
On my Attak I use Sidekicks reverse compatible scratchers. They are only Ok (not as good as traditional skid mounted stiffened wire scratchers), but with reverse there is no other option....

I have a set on my attak and they work very well
Hard to see them in the pic because of the ice but its the only picture i have at the moment.

i bought the slidekicks for my sled and took them back off. even after installing them the way they say too. they come unhooked off the sliderail all the time while riding and i don't like the way way they stick so far out the side. i can see some bad things happening if they hit something.

I got the ones that bolt onto the running boards and i'll tell you it was the best decision ever they save my slides so much

Cheaper fix, go to your hardware store buy 2- 1.5" bolts with washers and nyloc nuts (length depends on type of ski) drill hole inside corner of rear ski and install bolt. Seems to kick up enough snow for the hyfax, but not enough for the exchangers. You can always add the skid mounted scratchers too.
