Similar problems here, sled got slow (dropped 10-12 MPH) for awhile but I fixed it.
Did a bunch of things.... so it is hard to say exactly what fixed it.
But I think the main thing is the clips wear down and the closed window and non clipped sections of the track (bare rubber) rub on the hyfax more. I put on SLP wear pads on the closed windows.
Other things were, the accessory wheels are smaller than the stock ones so more drag, tried the polaris wheels but they are too big.
The Skidoo wheels are perfect.
Plus now I run the track looser.
Now I have back my top end, my sled coasts a lot further when I let off the gas too.
Oh, one last thing, I did not notice I was out of the wider (2005-2006) hyfax. So I had to put on the narrower ones (1997-2004)

In order, what helped me
1 SLP wear pads (about $22)
a fully clipped track would be as good if not better but way more $$$$
2 run track loose, not like the manual says
3 skidoo wheels about $19 ea
next thing I will try is teflon insert Hiperfax. Used them twice in the late 90's and gained top end, MPG, and reduced wear

Tork-How loose do you run your track??

Lifting the back end up the track hangs down 1-1/4 - 1-1/2
It is studded so that contributes to the hang.
But I am nowhere near to the 1-1/8 at 22 lbs pull or whatever the manual says.
How I came to that adjustment (used my logic ), and you could do similar too. Is lift the back end up, spin your track by hand. Loosen the track up to where it turns the easiest by hand, you will find the point where further loostening does not help.

I installed the pioneer blocks to relocate you stock wheels and they work sweet, plus i also installed the graphite yamaha viper slides as they are like the older style srx slides, that being thinner in thickness, unlike the stock ones that are so thick you have to wear them doen a ways to reach the same level that these viper slides are at,and while your wheels are pushing down farther into the track it rools much easier,oh ya these slides are only 20 bucks each, and no insert to fall out after the parent material wears off.Tork said:machj said:thanks for the info i ordered sliders profile #27hope there the right ones

No, been there done that with evey kind of hyfax there is.
I have put on about 5000 miles on the teflon insert Hiperfax.
They are slick as heck and they dont melt until the hit over 700 degrees.
ALL other hyfax will melt at 300 degrees or less. And the inserts dont fall out unless they are completely worn out, which takes much longer to do than with any othe hyfax.

Tork - you have any part numbers on the wheels? - when you say accessory, are you refering to the inner, the outer, or both?
