I've been looking for an older 06 or 07 nytro this season. Just can't afford an FX. I can't believe how many FX's I"ve seen for sale. Why is that? Did Yamaha sell that many of them or are guys just looking to get rid of them? What are they getting to replace it with. Anybody get any ideas.

I think a lot of people bought Nytro's only to find out later that they wanted the comfort and less agressive riding style of the DB2 chassis.
You can get a used 2008 for $5K ( just watch out for the subframe, be sure it is updated)

I also think yamaha sold more 08' than 09-11' combined. Just like the 07' phazers, they were so new and so different that they sold very well in there first year of production. 08 also had the most issues.

I too jumped into a used 08. It was great for the first hour of riding when I was fresh. After that I was just too tired to ride it. I like to go out in the morning and come back way after dark. This was not the sled for that. Either you love them or hate them. No real in between. I got rid of mine at the end of the season and ordered the 2010 Vector. No regrets here although when the trails are just right, I doo miss being able to smoke all my buddies.
The 08's got such a bad rap it scared everyone away from the 09s and up.....but thanks to sites like TY and the smart people out there who figured these sled out and how to make them work..they kida lost a bit of the negativity...however some people still think they are scary. I have an 08 RTX that I absolutly love...thanks to this site and the guys on it! The items in my sig have made it a joy to ride.

I rode them on 2 Yamaha demo rides. I thought I was going to hit a tree, and it bounced all over the trail on the mogals. When it was time to switch sleds, I ran to an apex. The return trip was way better.

So what are guys buying to replace their nytro's? I'm sure they're not getting out. Apexs or vectors, can't see them buying phazers or are they leaving yamaha.

What is the FX Nytro supposed to be ?
I've been riding hard on the trail and the back country for 40+ years, as far as the chassis tuning goes, I couldnt find one thing that the Nytro did with any level of competence. If I didnt love the Yamaha brand so much and had this need to make a 4stroke work for me I too would have dumped the thing and moved on.

From what I got. It's a big bump sled you can beat on but needs alot if wrench time to tune. And the motor is solid. One of the best out there
Not great on the trail IMO but a fun standup sled

I think the Nytro is a fantastic all round sled.

I think there are a lot of Nytro owners out there that are not prepared to spend the time needed to dial these sleds in, nor all the maintenance required, as the Nytros do require quite a bit of attention. Many just take it to the Dealer for service and expect a "turn key and ride" experience, as Yamaha marketed their sleds to be.
Think of riders out there who've never found TotallyYamaha to learn how to make these sleds better. How frustrating it could be for them? If it wasn't for TY, I probably would have traded in my Nytro in after one year.

I spent a lot of time researching before I purchased and hit the snow. I spent more time and money making it right but im glad I did and love it for off/on trail. Loved my attak but i really enjoy this sled even when the trails turns for the worst.

Based on comments people make, I was prepared for my MTX to be a near death riding experience out here in the flatlands. It's far from perfect, but no where near as bad as many make it out to be.
It is a HUGE difference in riding position from the older conventional sled I came from. It also not confidence inspiring when you throw a leg over it for the first time.
