The turbo is clean. I thought it was the plugs for sure when I removed them as they appeared to be very fouled ( black). Put the new plugs in and same thing. Very reluctant to start and when it does, idles very low ( 700-800). A trailer ride to the dealership I guess. Many have had rust in the turbo, turbo got stuck.
Thanks to all who replied and had suggestions ; very much appreciated.

Did you ever get this resolved?
Mine is doing the exact same thing. I changed the battery as the old battery was low on cranking amps however still don't want to start without holding gas and it's getting worse. Before it would run fine once warm. Now it won't.

Mine did this last year and this year. Had to give it gas to start,Smelled rich, bad gas mileage. Finally brought it to dealer a couple days ago and it needed a fuel pressure regulator. Supposed to run 45-46lbs mine would run that with key on but once running it shot to 76lbs.

Update. The regulator or whatever did not fix the problem, now they are going to try a new fuel pump. Yamaha thinks it a messed up winding on the pump. Leaving for gaspe on the 14th hope it’s fixed by then.Mine did this last year and this year. Had to give it gas to start,Smelled rich, bad gas mileage.
